Desperation

I blogged a while back about controlling what you can control. But what if you feel that there’s nothing you can control? What if you feel that your husband won’t ever care about the things that matter to you? What if your kids keep you so busy with sports that you feel like you’ll never catch up on the laundry? What if you are beginning to believe that you’ll be alone forever?

If you find yourself in desperation with the current situation of your home, don’t lose hope. Pray. Take it to the Lord.  Dave Stone says it really well here:

“Why pray? Because prayer communicates our dependence on God, our comprehension that we are, indeed, desperate for God’s presence and help. When we pray, we are enlisting, invoking, inviting divine assistance. We’re asking God to come in.

Prayer can’t simply be a fleeting sentence or two thrown heavenward when we’re struggling…it’s a privilege, and it is to be a priority. It’s also a recognition that we are in over our heads.

Take it from a young girl who spoke with an angel and discovered herself pregnant with a long-awaited Messiah: “Nothing is impossible with God.” (Luke 1:37). This Lord of ours specializes in making something from nothing and bringing beauty from ashes.”

Wow. May we all take our burdens to the Lord and leave them there!

  1. I love that the Lord even hears my cry of just a sentence prayer. And isn’t it the “little things” that can steal our joy? Thanks for the good reminder, Whitney.

  2. Thank you for the reminder Whitney. Love your last comment – I think I forget to “leave my burdens there” and tend to keep them hanging around!
