My Top 5 TV and Movie Romances!

Happy Valentines Day! I came up with a fun twist on my usual H54F post…in the spirit of Valentines Day, I am bringing you my top 5 TV and movie romances of all time!  Grab a box of kleenex and get ready to sigh with me…

#5 Westley & Buttercup

Princess2_L

Westley: I told you I would always come for you. Why didn’t you wait for me?

Buttercup: Well… you were dead.

Westley: Death cannot stop true love. All it can do is delay it for a while.

Buttercup: I will never doubt again.

Westley: There will never be a need.

::and my 14 year old heart always beat wildly::

#4 Captain Von Trapp & Maria

1124-3

I just adore the way Maria’s love for the Captain warms his lonely heart! I love the scene where Max tries to use Maria to convince the Captain to go along with the Nazis, and she replies, “I can’t ask him to be less than he is.”  Her trust and admiration toward him is a good example to us all, even if it’s a screen play. 🙂

#3 Mr. Knightley and Emma

Mr. Knightley: Marry me. Marry me, my wonderful, darling friend.

Sigh. I love the way Mr. Knightley looks at Emma throughout the movie…it is heart-wrenching all the way until the end when she realizes true love was there all along. Sigh.

#2  Joe Fox & Kathleen Kelly

Right? Isn’t this is ultimate movie romance? I can’t even pick a favorite quote from this movie…there are so many good ones!

And my number one romance of all time…is…

#1 Jim & Pam

I have watched seasons 1-7 of The Office at least 10 times. And yet, I still agonize over these two and their roller coaster love story every. single. time. I’ve cried watching their scenes more than I’ve cried over any movie. Anyone else like that? I cry when they kiss for the first time (above), when Jim asks Pam if she’s free for dinner after his New York interview, when they get engaged in the rain, when they find out Pam’s pregnant…and I’ve sobbed several times watching their wedding. It’s just the greatest TV romance of all time. In my opinion. 🙂

Do you agree with my picks? What are your favorite TV or movie romances?

  1. Great list! I readily admit that I like Mr. Knightly at least as much as Mr. Darcy, and you KNOW how much I love Jim and Pam! 🙂 My very favorite couple is Anne and Gilbert. They were my first movie / literary loves. 🙂

    1. Anne and Gilbert were the runners up. =) That’s actually one of PCP’s favorite movies (shhh! we can’t ruin his tough image!) and I came down the aisle to “Anne’s Theme.” So yeah, probably should have included them. =)

  2. YESSSS! Guess what my hubby and I did before falling asleep last night? Yep…watching a V-Day episode of The Office, of course! Jim and Pam forever!!! 🙂

    1. PS: I guess I should’ve written “romances” rather than movies, since The Office isn’t a movie – lol! I think I should’ve asked for more sleep for Valentine’s Day – ha! … I cried watching that first {highly anticipated!} kiss between Jim & Pam too!! Swoon! 🙂
