Seasons

This time of year brings change for many people. The end of a school year brings graduation, and whether it’s graduation from kindergarten, high school, college or grad school, life will never be the same for those grads – or their families. The month of May ushers in wedding season – and with it many changes for the happy couple and their families. These are good changes, of course. There are also the changes that aren’t so fun – loss of a job, financial difficulties, physical struggles…not to mention the loss of a loved one.

No matter what the change, it’s generally true that change is hard – often unpleasant. Any time I’m facing an unpleasant change, I find myself meditating on the truth in Ecclesiastes.

To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven…He hath made everything beautiful in its time: also he hath set eternity in their heart, yet so that man cannot find out the work that God hath done from the beginning even to the end. (Ecclesiastes 3:1, 11)

Whatever season you find yourself in, take heart. There is a purpose – and it’s only a season! Take a few moments and list the blessings of this season. Whether you find yourself with an empty nest, a new family member, or a new career, look for something that is unusual and special to this season of your life. God can make this season beautiful!

(By the way…my sister is getting married this weekend! That’s a good change. 🙂 Follow me on Instagram to see all the fun unfold!)
