Fear Not Tomorrow

IMG_6480

“Tomorrow” has been filled with a lot of uncertainty for us. At the beginning of May – just weeks after my husband’s 6 month period of severe underemployment came to an end – I lost my brand new dream job. Just as we thought we could loosen our belts a little bit, we are tightening them more than we have in months. It is easy to allow the fear of tomorrow’s unknowns to grip our hearts. Will I be able to find a new job? What if one of us gets sick or injured while we are without health insurance?

Whether you’re married, single, widowed, employed, unemployed, a new parent, a tired parent, or just an American citizen watching the nightly news…it is easy to allow the fear of tomorrow’s unknowns to grip your heart.

Fear not tomorrow – God is already there.

Those words came to my mind the other day as I was praying. I found myself worrying about the future instead of leaving it at Jesus’ feet. I’m so thankful for the reminder –  and for the opportunity to trust the future to the One Who is already there!

Are you troubled o’er things to come
Is your future unsure?
Are you dreading the coming dawn
A long day to endure?

Fear not tomorrow
God is already there!
He’s charting the course you’ll take
He sees each hidden snare.
He’s waiting to guide you
Through each burden and care.
Fear not tomorrow
God is already there!

  1. Whitney, you bring such joy into my morning, as I check my emails, juggle schedules and plan for the coming days, your wise words allow me to think there is hope to have an organized home that is balanced with real life and faith! Our God is sovereign and providential. I will be praying for you and your family during this time. We too, have been through a few lean years and I look back on some of the most skinny times with joy and gratefulness for what He taught us. (I’ve prayed for “skinny” before. Not sure I will do that the same way! lol ) You’ll be in my prayers. Thank you for being who He created you to be!

    1. Thank you for your kind encouragement AND for your prayers, Darla! You’re right – it is possible to create a place of comfort for your family, no matter what life brings. Thank you for sharing today! 🙂
