The people who walked in darkness
have seen a great light;
those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness,
on them has light shone.
For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given;
and the government shall be upon his shoulder,
and his name shall be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. (Isaiah 9:2,6)
Christmas is a very special time of year to me. I grew up in a family that valued traditions, so we did a lot of special and fun things at Christmas. I have a lot of great memories as a result! We decorated the whole house, ate Christmas cookies for weeks, caroled to our neighbors and church friends, built snow men and played in the Indiana snow…just to name a few things!
Although Christmas is a great time for my family, the true meaning of Christmas is very personal to me. The baby Jesus in the manger is the Person who has transformed my life. I was in darkness, but the light of the gospel shines in my heart and gives me hope! I have hope that Jesus will be with me throughout this life, and I have hope that this life is not the end! I have the hope of eternity in heaven with Jesus because He came to earth as a baby and gave His life on the cross for my sin.
Jesus is the Prince of Peace. The peace He brings is not the absence of conflict. Jesus came to give us peace in spite of the conflict.
The meaning of Christmas impacts my life 365 days of the year!
Merry Christmas!
Beautiful! So glad I got to read this.

Amen! And couldn’t help but sing that verse (as in the Messiah) in my head.

Oh fun! I haven’t heard the Messiah in a long time. I guess I should look it up on youtube!
