From the day after Thanksgiving all the way through the Christmas season, I listen solely to Christmas music. Even though I have a large selection of Christmas music in my stash, I typically settle on a handful of albums that I play over and over throughout December. Today I’m sharing with you the 5 albums I’m loving this Christmas season!
1. Brad Paisley Christmas: As a lover of old-school country music, this album is just perfect. It has that traditional country sound with a good mix of traditional Christmas songs and original songs. It’s lighthearted and a good one to crank up in the car. His rendition of Away in A Manger is so country and unlike any other arrangement you’ll hear.
2. Carpenters Christmas Portrait: This one is classic and probably familiar to most. I grew up playing this album on our record player – my sister and I even used one of their songs as a lip-sync number in our famous Christmas Eve family concert. It’s such a great one!
3. Pentatonix – That’s Christmas To Me: I fell in love with these guys when they were on The Sing Off (which I miss terribly, by the way!) and this album does not disappoint. They recorded an incredible arrangement of my favorite Christmas song – Mary, Did You Know? – check it out on YouTube.
4. Michael W. Smith & Friends – The Spirit of Christmas: I cheated on this one. I don’t actually have this album, but I love the arrangement of All Is Well (featuring Carrie Underwood) so much that I had to include it in my list. I might be a little late to the party on this one, but if you haven’t heard it yet you must! Click here to listen.
5. Kenny Rogers – Christmas In America: Hashtag 1989, I know. But I grew up listening to this (on a cassette tape) and it’s not Christmas until I hear the entire thing! I really like how this album is a continuous string of songs, all connected together with interludes. (Interludes? If that isn’t the right word, my smart music teacher sister needs to correct me)
So that’s it! My favorite Christmas albums for 2014! What are you loving this year? Anybody have a old album that you love like my #5?

HI, Whitney, thanks for stopping by! I too love Christmas music and my CD’s have been burning it up this season. I love some older ones and new ones. I got Michael Buble’s Christmas one last year and love it. Also have Celine Deon and Amy Grant, both older and both still really good. Oh, and Luther Vandross, always a fave too. Love me some Christmas music too! Merry Christmas to you!

Yes, interludes is the correct word. Good job, sis. And I’m a huge fan of the Pentatonix Christmas CD too! And of course good ole Kenny because I haven’t spent a single Christmas out of all my 23 Christmases without listening to him.

I LOVE Christmas music!I was listening to it before Thanksgiving, for sure. My favorites are MercyMe’s The Christmas Sessions, a freebie I got from Lifeway one year called Bethlehem Skyline, Manheim Steamroller & I’m really liking the Joy, An Irish Christmas that we’re doing this year.
And with 2 little boys, we of course listen to VeggieTales Christmas & Curious George Christmas on repeat. 🙂

My favorite Christmas albums are from Harry Connick Jr – classic songs with a little twist. They are so catchy that you can’t help but sing along. I also love turning on my Pandora Christmas station to hear some new things – Country Christmas and Classic Christmas songs are my jam. Hope you have a great weekend 🙂

I love those too – I used to play those Pandora channels all day long when I worked in an office. It’s festive but not too overpowering.

When I was growing up in the 1960s, my favorite album was Ernie Ford’s Christmas album. Several years ago a good friend found this album was now available on CD and she gave it to me for Christmas. And I LOVE the Carpenters as well as Brad Paisley. I am going to have to get that Pentatonix CD as I have heard several songs of theirs and enjoyed their styling.

My parents live close to where Ernie Ford was born – we drove past his home a few years ago. 🙂
