Ingles Grocery Haul + Paleo Diet Update {Menu Monday}

Thanks so much for the helpful tips AND the sympathy towards my endeavors with Paul’s new Paleo diet! The first week gave us some good R&D on what does and doesn’t work with this eating plan. I wasn’t quite as befuddled during my shopping trip this week, and came home with a few things that I think will round out our menu nicely. Truthfully, Paul’s not eating 100% Paleo – it’s probably about 80% of the clean diet and 20% of the forbidden things. If nothing else, he’s eating less processed foods and more fruits and veggies which isn’t a bad thing.

If you’re curious how I’m able to know when something is on sale for such incredible prices, be sure to watch this week’s grocery haul! I shared a few of my grocery shopping strategies.

The menu isn’t too much different from last week…I’m hoping to find a few more recipes that work with Paul’s diet!

  • Cereal
  • Fruit
  • Eggs and Bacon
  • Toast with Peanut Butter and Banana (my new favorite breakfast)

    1. There are just two of us – I’m not feeding a family of four. 🙂 But I try to never make meat the main attraction in our meals – it’s more of a garnish. Sometimes I slice those sausages and put them in a pasta dish, or we’ll have them on hot dog buns with sauteed peppers and onions. I always make a big fruit or vegetable side to help us fill up on those things instead of the meat. Hope that helps!

  1. That chicken sausage is really tasty! It’s always nice to find a great deal on meat. We found big markdowns on ground round, bacon and pork loin this week. I was excited for a sale + kroger app coupon combo on cheese this week. Good luck with making your paleo friendly meals. I’m hoping to find a great first watermelon of the season this week 🙂

    1. Way to go! Finding marked down meat is such a rare treasure! 🙂 Pork loin is one of my favorite Sunday meals. Yum! I wish we had Kroger, they seem to have really great coupons and deals. Hope you find your perfect watermelon!

  2. One of my go-to tools when I’m learning to cook a new way (or maybe just want to get out of a rut!) is to order a slew of cookbooks from our local library. Maybe only one or two will pan out, but odds are I find something helpful. Cookbooks can be incredibly helpful in a way that blogs or PInterest can’t because they are so all encompassing. Most will not only give you breakfast, lunch and dinner recipes, but they also tend to have helpful tips and personal insight along the way or via the forward. Plus, the library is free! Well, until you rack up $40 worth of fees (or is that just me?) :-).
