High Five For Friday, Sisters and Sunday Supper!

Happy Friday

1// Alli and I talked on the phone Saturday night about how tired we were of our summer clothes, and both made an effort to put together something different from our usual Sunday attire. Sunday morning she texted me a picture of her outfit. I laughed and sent her a picture of mine. Even if you live in another state, the sister connection is real.

2// I love having extra time on Sunday to fix a nice meal for us. This week I made a pork roast in the oven that turned out so tender and juicy! I mashed Yukon gold potatoes and served them with the gravy from the roast. With garlic green beans and biscuits, it was my favorite kind of supper…and one we eat a lot, apparently. 🙂

3// In case you missed it, I filmed a “What’s In My Makeup Bag” video! I only wear drugstore makeup, so if you’re looking for a few affordable options this is the video for you!

4// Poor Peggy really hates summer storms. She’s normally a lap cat, but when it’s storming she has to get as close to us as well as a large piece of furniture as she possibly can. Here we are Wednesday night, on the living room floor. Peggy wedged herself between me and the couch and ended up completely under the blanket by the end of the evening. Bless her furry heart (but I always like kitty snuggles).

5// There’s a song that plays on our local gospel radio station – every time I hear it, my heart is blessed and encouraged. If you’re going through a trial or feel like God isn’t listening to your prayer, take a minute and listen to Pray Now (lyric video here). There is strength and power in Jesus’ name!

Have a lovely weekend!

  1. The sister bond is strong! How fun that you were both matching. So cute 🙂 And I was just telling my husband that I needed to make the “big Sunday dinner” on Friday nights, so that when we’re home from Church on Saturday (that’s when we go) we have yummy leftovers! It’s my favorite kind of meal, but I don’t do it that often. I loved your makeup bag video. I just love all the variety the drugstore has to offer. Hope you’re having a wonderful weekend!

  2. Can I come eat with you next Sunday? I love fixing a big Sunday meal but honestly, don’t do it! I have hopes of making a new Sunday goal of having friends over for dinner on Sunday evenings in the fall. xoxoxox – Amanda

  3. My best friend and I used to buy the same outfits all the time! It is always so fun to have that connection with someone. Loved your vlog. Nice to see a video about affordable makeup. Have a great weekend!

  4. You are such a natural on the video! Have you done this before? I am not a makeup person except lipstick but I can’t believe you do this everyday. Pretty impressed. I’d like to see how you get it all off at night. Nice job on taping this. You remind me a lot of Katie from Cup of Tea, another blogger who does these vlog posts too. Have a great weekend.

    1. You’re sweet, Michelle – thank you! Katie is a friend of mine and I love watching her videos too. 🙂 My makeup routine only takes about 15 minutes to apply – and it’s worth it to me! I take it all off with a makeup remover wipe and a wet washcloth – it’s pretty simple. Thanks for stopping by!

  5. Your pork roast looks divine! Could you share the details on how you did it and the gravy (I looked at the link and she used the crock pot and only cream of mushroom soup)? Thanks, I really want to try it.

    1. I have her cookbook which also gives instructions for doing it in the oven – so I did it for about 4 hours at 325 (it was a big roast). I added the soup and a little water before covering it tightly with foil. I made the gravy with the drippings from the roast – but I think I’m going to film a “how to make gravy” video soon. I get a lot of questions about my gravy. 🙂 Stay tuned!

  6. I love your matching sister outfits. Your pointy toed flats look perfect to go with any outfit! Your Sunday dinner looks delicious and I hope this week is storm free for the sake of your kitties 🙂 Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

      1. Sisters are a blessing…brothers are refreshing…or is it the other way around. Anyway, the little prairie dogs, Hampton, Horatio and Hopeless sing it if I remember correctly. Of course the kids favorite character is Cactus Patch’s horse, Lightning. lol

        1. Oh my goodness. Neither Paul nor I could remember what song that was…so we hunted around and found a clip of it on their website. I haven’t heard that song in probably 20 + years!!! “If you have a sister or brother, be thankful for each other…” Good stuff! 😊 I do remember Lightning’s signature line, though! 😊
