Disney Dining: Character Dining Experiences

I was really eager to meet/see as many characters as I could during our trip to Walt Disney World. We love watching YouTube videos of people interacting with the characters and were excited to role play with some of our favorites. The easiest way to meet characters is by booking a character dining meal. Here are the two restaurants we visited:

Cinderella’s Royal Table

Overall Experience:

Who doesn’t want to walk into Cinderella’s Castle, be announced as “Lord and Lady Pendell,” chat with Disney princesses while overlooking the rest of Magic Kingdom? This was a super fun experience and one I’d do again! Before being seated, we waited in a short line to meet Cinderella. We had a nice chat about friendly mice. 🙂

We had the best seat in the restaurant, with a lovely view of Fantasyland.

While we ate, various princesses were announced to the crowd and then made their way to each table. They stopped to chat and take pictures with everyone. We met Snow White, Ariel and Princess Jasmine (our favorite of the morning). She advised us to watch out for the camels – they spit. 🙂

The Food:

The food was very good, although I was a little distracted by the princesses. 🙂 We were there for breakfast – I ordered caramel apple stuffed french toast, and Paul had a traditional breakfast plate with eggs, bacon, sausage and potatoes. He said the potatoes were really good. We also had juice, milk, coffee and a plate of pastries at our table.

Special thanks to Amy from Polka Dots N’Wishes Travel for getting our reservations! This place is booked from the minute dining reservations open, but Amy worked her magic and got us a spot.

Overall Experience:

Paul and I are big fans of Beauty and the Beast, especially after seeing the Broadway version for our 4th anniversary. I really wanted to eat in this new restaurant and worked pretty hard to snag our breakfast reservation! Even though it’s a quick-service restaurant, the atmosphere is SO magical and full of every detail from the movie. You truly feel like you’re inside the Beast’s castle. Everyone working in the restaurant remains in character – we had fun asking the wait staff what they were “before they were human again.”

I believe that Beast and Belle do appear in this restaurant, but not for breakfast. We enjoyed the experience very much, even without meeting the characters! (Paul did get to meet Gaston during our trip – you can see that on my Disney vlog!)

The Food:

We ate in the West Wing, which was very authentic…and dark. I wasn’t able to get any pictures of the food for that reason – but it was delicious. I ordered Eggs Florentine (fluffy eggs with spinach and cheese in puff pastry, served with plum tomatoes) and Paul had an open faced bacon and egg sandwich that came with a plate of delicious seasonal fruit. We also had milk, coffee, juice and a plate of pastries at our table.

Character dining is a magical experience – I highly recommend it!

This post is part of my Walt Disney World Series. We visited WDW at the end of October and chose the Deluxe Dining Plan. Eating at Disney World is not cheap, but choosing a dining plan that works for your family is a great way to go. We loved our meals at WDW and I’m excited to share some of our favorite restaurants with you! This post is not sponsored by Walt Disney World – all opinions are my own.

  2. It was fun reading about your adventures in Disney dining, friend!! We’ve enjoyed a couple of breakfasts at Cinderella’s Royal Table over the years. It’s always magical, and it sounds like you and Paul made the most of your time with the characters while there! 🙂 I loved hearing about the interactions you had with cast members at Beast’s castle during your breakfast at Be Our Guest too! So fun!! We LOVE dining there! During our 2013 trip to the World we had dinner reservations (when the restaurant is considered table service) and following your meal you get a meet and greet with Beast in his study! Belle unfortunately doesn’t meet guests there…she’s probably busy with all those books! 😉 Beauty and the Beast is my mom’s all time favorite, so with my parents along for this last trip dining there as a must! This time around we made a lunch reservation (when the restaurant is considered quick service) so we didn’t meet Beast, but did enjoy a really lovely time there! Right after lunch we hopped on a bus over to Hollywood Studios to see Beauty and the Beast live on stage. It’s been so much fun to hear my mom tell everyone about the day we dined in Beast’s castle and then went to see the tale as old as time retold on stage! Disney memories are the best!! So glad that you and Paul created such wonderful ones during your trip! I’ve enjoyed all that you’ve shared from it! 🙂 xo – Brenda // Chatting Over Chocolate

    1. Thanks for the clarification on when Beast is at the restaurant – I looked all over the internet and couldn’t find a clear answer. Next time I’ll just email you. 🙂 I would like to go back for supper at Be Our Guest – we had an hour from our breakfast reservation to be in line for Test Track, so we didn’t get to linger. So much to take in! 🙂

  3. Sounds amazing! I love that you got to eat a delicious meal with the characters all nearby instead of chasing them all over the park. I remember hunting down characters and being so excited to find them. I bet it was so fun to feel like you were on set of the movie. Disney is such a special place 🙂

    1. You should! We thought we’d be in the minority not having kids with us, but there were SO many couples there (of all ages) just having a grand time without and kids or grandkids. It’s a great way to disconnect from the rest of the world and just have fun with your spouse!
