I struggle with wreaths in general, but Christmas presents an additional challenge to my wreath impairment. My front door is a lovely burgundy…but it clashes with Christmas red! Last year I went with green and gold, but that arrangement bit the dust after being exposed to the elements of winter.
This year I went a totally different route with my front door, and finally accomplished a Pinterest project I put on my board a couple years ago! Wreaths are almost always expensive – whether you use a pre-made one or purchase the materials yourself. I’m happy to report that my project cost me less than $5!
I purchased an off-white picture frame at Goodwill for $2.50, removed the glass and added a few embellishments. I tied jute to an assortment of plastic gold ornaments, bundled it together and tied it through the picture hanger on the back of the frame. My burlap bow (from Hobby Lobby’s after-Christmas clearance last year) is attached to the frame with jute strung through the back of each bow loop. Our front porch gets a lot of wind, but I haven’t heard my frame banging or swinging at all. Watch my video below for a few more up-close shots and details!

Change the ribbon and it would get you through January too!! One reason I am dragging my feet on choosing a front door color is because it is so hard to decide and I try to remember that I will want to make sure all my wreaths and door hangers will look nice against it. I am thinking of a deep teal blue but I just cannot commit.lol.
