I try to always set a pretty table for our Sunday lunch, even if it isn’t as fancy as something I would put together for a holiday meal. Last weekend I picked up some fun place mats on clearance at Target, and they inspired me to pull together this colorful table setting for our lunch on Sunday.
While scrolling through old blog posts looking for something else, I found this picture of a Sunday table set by my Nana. I loved the way she layered the tablecloth with the place mats and decided to try something similar with my own linens, with an extra twist of some pattern mixing.
This table setting is basically an adventure in Target clearance – my centerpiece, glasses and place mats were all clearance finds over the last few years. You might recognize the turquoise plates from my $10 Target challenge. I have no problem with taking things right off the walls if I need them somewhere else. 🙂 My tablecloth and napkins came from Nana – she has the greatest hand-me-downs!
Sunday tables don’t have to be fancy – throw a few Target clearance deals together and you’re done!

Thanks for hosting!! I thought they were great for spring too, especially when used with the turquoise accents. ❤

Pretty combination! The colors and patterns all work well together. I’ve mixed plaids + stripes and florals + plaids before. It’s a fun way to mix up your linens. Do your cats ever bother your place settings? Mine seem extra naughty when I set the table.

Thelma Lou LOVES it when I put a tablecloth on the table – she curls up in the chair and hides behind the extra fabric. Several times a guest has pulled out their chair and found her sitting there. LOL. Peggy loves to sleep on the table when there’s a tablecloth or especially fresh flowers – so I quit buying those all together. 🙂 Stinkers!

I have to work at it, too! Paul prefers to eat at a TV tray in the living room, so we compromise. 🙂
