1 // Happy Friday! This is a special weekend in America (I’m sure you’re aware)! 🙂 Don’t forget that this is a great time to stock up on condiments, chips and anything you use for grilling (hamburgers, charcoal, buns, hot dogs, sausages). All those things will be on sale this weekend so get it while it’s cheap!
2 // Last Friday I picked up a free waffle cone at our newly remodeled Brusters! I love Brusters (second only to Dairy Queen) but it’s just too expensive for my frugal conscience. I was very excited to get some of their delicious ice cream for free…and I managed to eat it, in the car, in 99 degree temps, without getting any on my clothes. My car didn’t fare quite as well.
3 // Looking for a cute patriotic outfit for this weekend? I love this one that my sister put together!
4 // Thelma Lou (my black and white cat) is extremely vocal and bossy. She yells at us anytime she wants attention, wakes us up by tapping our faces and slams doors when she’s not getting what she wants. I am not making this up. She’s not mean, it’s all attitude. It’s like having a toddler! 🙂
5 // We don’t have a ton planned for the weekend. On Sunday, Paul and I are doing some special music for the patriotic service at his parent’s church – he sings and I play the piano. We usually eat hot dogs, potato salad and corn on the cob and watch a John Wayne movie on the 4th, so that’s what we have planned for Monday. I thought about going downtown Greenville for their fireworks, but we’ll probably end up staying home and watching fireworks on TV. Because air conditioning.
Here’s my question for you – where is your favorite place to get ice cream?

My favorite ice cream….that’s a toughie! I used to love, love, love Starbucks’ Caramel Macchiato, which I got at the grocery store. But I’m not sure it’s made anymore. Dairy Queen’s vanilla is good, but McDonald’s vanilla cones are at least half the price! I enjoy Culver’s vanilla frozen custard, but it’s a one or twice yearly treat. When I traveled to North Carolina years ago, I had some Goodberry’s Frozen Custard, and that was so delicious!! You’ve spoken of the Chick-Fil-A Ice Dream, so I need to try that one next.
I did stock up on pickles this holiday weekend. They were $1.50 a jar for Vlasic…score! 🙂 Your Thelma Lou sounds like quite the character. Would love to see her and the doors! I showed my mom the photo of Thelma Lou, and she said, “What a pretty kitty!” 🙂

We just got a Culvers but haven’t been in yet – I’ll have to try that! Great deal on the pickles!

Thelma Lou is a great name for a cat. Love it! I also have a very bossy cat around the house. He has a big attitude, but I still love him!

Thanks! She’s named after Thelma Lou, Barney Fife’s girlfriend on The Andy Griffith Show. 🙂

That ice cream looks so delicious! Kudos to you for not spilling it on yourself. I always seem to drip on myself. I love that your cat has attitude! Pets really are like toddlers… LOL. They just don’t grow out of it! Your 4th of July plans sound relaxing. Have a lovely holiday!

I love Luna Rosa gelato in downtown Greenville. Their blood orange is my absolute favorite! 😍🍦

I haven’t been to Luna Rosa since right after they opened! Our Ingles just put in a gelato bar, and I’m thinking I need to treat myself while shopping at least once. 🙂

Your toddler is pretty cute! I’d like to see some video of that sassy action. I’m impressed that you ate chocolate ice cream in the car and didn’t get a drop on you. I’m such a clumsy eater so way to go. I love to get DQ Butterfinger Blizzards or Baskin Robbins when we go out for ice cream. Kevin just picked up a local deal card that has a BOGO offer on small blizzards all year long. Better believe we’ll be taking advantage of that 🙂 Your fireworks in the AC combo sounds really nice. We are going to try to go to a local fireworks show if Olive can stay up that late and if I doesn’t end up raining. Happy 4th to you!!

Trust me, I was amazed that I didn’t get any ice cream on my clothes. I had a bunch of errands to run after the ice cream stop, and I really didn’t want to walk all over town with chocolate and peanut butter on my clothes. 🙂

That ice cream looks fantastic!! And that’s too funny about your cat! Pets’ different personalities just crack me up. We have a bunch of indoor/outdoor cats in our neighborhood, and some are petrified of passersby while others just want to be everyone’s best friend. Go figure! 😉 Enjoy your holiday!

Yes, cats are so funny. I always remind Paul that our cats are unusually tolerant and that you can’t normally get right in a cat’s face without having your eyes scratched out! LOL.

I love pistachio ice cream – it’s delish at Coldstone Creamery! I love your description of Thelma Lou…she quite the kitty!!! Watching a John Wayne movie on the 4th is a great idea, we may have to copy you! I’m not a fan of the heat & humidity either, but I usually brave it because I love FIREWORKS 😉 Have a terrific Fourth of July!

John Wayne movies are perfect for the 4th – we usually watch one of his war movies where he dies in the end, so then we need a pick me up and watch McClintock or El Dorado (two of my faves!).

I actually don’t like ice cream. (Don’t hate me!) I found one that I like from Trader Joe’s (coffee!) but I can barely eat a whole scoop. I’ve just never really been an ice cream girl, I’m not sure why.
Our fireworks are tonight. We could always see them from our front yard until last year, when they moved the shoot-off location. They’ve moved it again this year, closer to where it used to be, so I’m hoping I can see them from here again!

You guys need to visit New England! All of the seasonal ice cream places are open right now, and much of the ice cream is homemade with milk and cream from local cows. We just found a great new-to-us place. It’s the 5th one down on this list: http://www.nhmagazine.com/June-2015/Five-Great-Ice-Cream-Stands-and-Shops/. We also have this fun seasonal place right in our own back yard: https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g46208-d3297319-Reviews-Frosty_Scoops-Plymouth_New_Hampshire.html. There’s no shortage of great ice cream up here in the summer!

Well Baskin Robbins is my favorite Ice Cream place but while in Gulf Shores we found an Ice Cream Shop that served Hershey Ice Cream. All flavors and now it is a close second for me.

I love Baskin Robbins too – all of ours closed a couple years ago. I make sure to get some when we are in Gatlinburg!
