5 Things on Friday {Thanksgiving Edition}

Happy Friday! All I’ve heard lately is, “Can you believe that next week is Thanksgiving?!” There’s been so much going on in our world recently that it seems like it drowned out everything else. I hope you’ll take some time in the next week to unplug from the noise and just reflect on your blessings. In fact, that’s what I’m doing with today’s post. Here are five things I’m thankful for – in no particular order.

#1 My Family: Next month Paul and I will celebrate 6 years of marriage! He is my “home” and I’m so grateful for my loving, patient husband. I am thankful for the sweet relationship I have with my parents and my sister (and I’m glad I get to see them for a quick visit this weekend)!

#2 My Home: Four years ago I spent Thanksgiving week happily unpacking boxes in our new home! We’ve made so many memories in this house and I’m still having fun decorating and organizing it as time passes.

#3 My Job: I am very grateful for my job. It was a direct answer to prayer and provides me with many things I never thought I’d get to experience. It’s not perfect, but I like it. That’s really something to be thankful for!

#4 God’s Word: During the last month with all the turmoil and yuckiness surrounding the election, I found God’s Word to be such a source of peace. I’ve really enjoyed listening to Scripture passages on my YouVersion app. I’ve even said “Amen” out loud as I’ve listened to the trustworthy Truth of God’s Word (particularly in the Psalms and Isaiah) and the verses came alive in my heart!

#5 You!: I’m more grateful than ever for all my friends in the blogging world. It has been so much fun to get to know you – or to get to know you even better – so far this year! Thank you for taking the time to read what I post, to comment and to share your thoughts throughout the week. It means so much to me!

I’m ready for the Christmas season, but I’m waiting to enjoy all that Thanksgiving brings before I start getting all festive and glittery. Here’s a quick tour of my home decorated for Thanksgiving!

I would love to hear something you’re thankful for, if you would like to share that with me! Have a great weekend!

  1. Lately, I’ve even more so been thinking about the saying, “I’m too blessed to be stressed!” Saw that quote/saying all over the place a while back, and it’s really true. We have so many things to be thankful for, if we only take the time to remember them! Family and friends are big blessings for me, too. Getting through life isn’t very fun, or fulfilling, if you go it alone.

  3. SO much to be thankful for!! I love your collage of many of the sweet things in your life. I think it’s been hard to slow down and focus on thanksgiving this year so I plan to do just that for the coming week.

  4. Whitney, I love your list. We all have so much to be thankful for this year. I am thankful for our little home away from home in Georgia. Because my husband was prudent with our finances over the years and we lived beneath our means we are able to enjoy this little house near my family. I look forward to decorating it frugally. I have already packed up a lot of things here in this house that are extras…they will be moving to Georgia. I am also thankful for your friendship and I hope 2017 will be the year I get to meet you in person.

  5. One thing I’m thankful for is my church. After being away during August, it really made me aware of the blessing of a solid church that preaches the Word, believes in prayer, has Christ-honoring music and a wonderful body of believers! Oh, and I happen to love the pastor! 😏
