Meal Planning Inspiration {Menu Monday}

Happy Monday! Last week I was inspired by my friend Katie’s post about her menu inspiration, so I thought today I’d share with you my favorite places to find recipes for my weekly menu plans.

My Index of our Favorite Meals: I have a list of all the recipes we like for breakfast, lunch and supper. I also make a note of where those recipes are located for quick access!

Pinterest: I have several different boards that I reference for meal planning, but if I’m looking for something we haven’t tried I’ll scroll through the Recipes To Try board.

My Mom’s Recipe Index: My mom blogs at RefreshHer – and her recipe index over there is amazing! Not only does she share great recipes, she includes notes about how and why she tweaked a recipe. Plus her plating & table setting skills are amazing.

Southern Plate: So many of my go-to recipes have originated here! I also have both of her supper time cookbooks, Southern Plate and Come Home To Supper – they’re full of great recipes!

Where do you go for menu planning inspiration?

  1. Meals can get boring, so it’s awesome to have inspiration. I save recipes/ideas I find online in a folder on my computer, and I have printed recipes from elsewhere in my recipe box. Blogs and Pinterest are some of the places I’ve found really tasty things! Your blog has been very inspirational, Whitney! Thank you! 🙂

  2. Thanks for sharing my recipe index! That’s one great thing about having my blog; all my favorite recipes are right there! I pinned your cheeseburger wraps! Those look so good! I have to have a menu to follow. Without it I dread making dinner. With a plan, I get things going so much faster and earlier.

  3. I agree, your recipe index is such a great idea. I need to do a better job of saving meal plans/shopping lists that worked well. Sometimes it looks good on paper but either costs too much or the recipes don’t flow together in an easy way. I think I need to make this my next rainy day project!

  4. Burrito bowls are a weekly thing at my house. So easy, cheap, filling, and yummy! We do black beans, brown rice, sautéed peppers + onions and then top with salsa, Mexican cheese, and avocado. Yum! Love the addition of corn on yours! I’ll have to try that next!

  5. I love cheeseburgers so your wraps and salads sounds extra good right now. I’ve got to put those on the menu soon. I’d forgotten about your master list of favorite recipes and I meant to do that. So I’ll be working on a master list for our family this Spring. Thanks for the reminder and my fridge is now sparkling thanks to your youtube video inspiration 🙂

  6. I agree with Stephanie! The index idea is SUCH a great idea! I have been meaning to do this… there are just too many awesome sources for meals that I forget the favorites. Also need to add burrito bowls back into our meal rotation!!

    1. Oh and thank you for that precious card. It is on my hutch in the kitchen so I can see it daily. We can all use some encouragement and I one of my goals is to be more intentional in that area.
