Pardon the punny post title, I can’t help it. I come from parents who can (and probably do!) make puns in their sleep! But when it comes to quick, easy and delicious food…I don’t joke around. Wraps have become one of my favorite things to make for lunch and even for supper! I like to serve them with fresh fruit or steamed broccoli.
I love making big meals for my family, but sometimes that’s just not possible. It’s those times that I love falling back on a wrap, which feels a little better than calling a plain sandwich “supper.” Here are some of our favorite things to put on our wraps!
Wrap:
- Flat-Out Wraps – regular, sun dried tomato or spinach
- Tortillas – whole wheat or flour
Meat:
- “Grilled” Balsamic Chicken
- Lunch Meat: Turkey, Ham, Chicken or Roast Beef
- Leftover Roast Chicken
Veggies:
- Tomato Slices
- Spinach
- Romaine Lettuce
- Kalamata Olives
- Red Onion
- Avocado Slices
- Bell Peppers
- Black Beans/Refried Beans
Condiments:
- Ranch Dressing
- Italian Dressing
- Sour Cream
- BBQ Sauce
- Hummus
- Feta Cheese
- Thinly Sliced Swiss Cheese
- Shredded Cheddar Cheese
Combos: I usually just wing it, but here are two delicious recipes along with our favorite combos!
- Greek Grilled Chicken and Hummus Wrap
- Hawaiian BBQ Chicken Wrap
- Paul’s Favorite: Flatout Wrap with Black Forest Ham, Thinly Sliced Swiss Cheese – Toasted, with Ranch on the side
- My Favorite: Whole Wheat Tortilla with Grilled Chicken, Tomatoes, Kalamata Olives, Feta Cheese and Light Italian Dressing
To toast the wrap, I put it in the skillet and just toast it with a little bit of non-stick spray, like you would a quesadilla. I always prefer mine served cold. Like revenge. LOL.
And that’s a wrap! 🙂
I don’t have much experience with wraps (eating or making them), but I’ve really enjoyed the ones I got from our local Hy-Vee grocery store. They always look so fancy that I’m a bit intimidated to make any. Haha! 🙂

Well, shoot! I thought I edited this post to include “experience” with wraps, but it didn’t work. Sorry for the double-ish post! Ahhh!

Ha, no prob! Wraps aren’t hard to make – it’s basically a taco that you roll a little tighter. 🙂

My issue with wraps (and tacos…and pitas…Okay, pretty much anything requiring stuffing) is that I always overstuff so they fall apart! I just LOVE topppings, I guess! 🙂

Haha, me too! When I make shredded chicken tacos (with beans, avocado, tomatoes, lettuce, cheese, salsa…), I always end up eating it with a fork and knife. 🙂

Great ideas, Whitney! These wraps sound delicious and I like your ideas for simple sides. I never thought about toasting a wrap as one would make a quesadilla. Good idea!

Paul loves grilled ham and cheese sandwiches, so I’m always looking for healthier versions of that meal. This one works pretty well!

These wraps sound so good! I love cold wraps in the summer so I’ve got to stock up on ingredients. You’re right – they do feel a little fancier than just eating a sandwich. I bet my husband would like the toasted wrap version. We also love Feta cheese, but I never thought to put it in a wrap! Yum!

I like using feta because you don’t need as much as you would a milder cheese = fewer calories!

I usually have a wrap once a day. Either breakfast or lunch. The options for fillings is endless.

I have a few wrap “recipes”, but typically just toss in leftovers of grilled or smoked meats we have here with lettuce, cheese, and let the sauce/toppings dictate what flavor I’m going for (salsa, guac, & sour cream for a Mexican wrap or peanut sauce for a Thai taste). I was excited to see you sharing your favorite toppings and combos today! They all sound delish!! Clicking through to that Hawaiian chicken wrap recipe now. Thanks for sharing! 😉 xo – Brenda // ChattingOverChocolate.com
