5 Things On Friday {9.1.17}

Happy Friday and Happy September! This is the month we’ve all been waiting for…it’s time for all the fall things to commence! 🙂

I haven’t done a roundup of 5 random things in a while – so here we go!

1// 4 Years of Blogging!

Today is my 4th Blogiversary! I started this blog from my couch 4 years ago and 839 posts later, here we are! In the past year I’ve begun to identify the blog as more than just a hobby – it’s part of who I am. I am so grateful to have a space where I can share my heart and my passion for homemaking with all of you. Thank you all so much for joining me here on the blog every week. I count my readers among my friends – you encourage me, you inspire me and you bless my life!

This year I finally got around to decorating my office which has increased my enjoyment of blogging even more!

2// This Week’s Mani

I’m always on the hunt for the perfect polish that has a long lasting, gel-like finish at an affordable price. My friend Lauren sent me a bottle of this gorgeous Gel Finish from Avon in the shade “very berry” and I’m loving it! I did put a coat of my Sally Hansen Diamond Strength topcoat over it because I prefer super shiny nails – but the color payoff on this polish is great! I didn’t do the best job of painting my nails this week so excuse the messy cuticles.

3// Cooler Weather

We had a week of such lovely weather! I never said I liked summer, so I’m always thrilled to see the temps start dipping into the 70’s!

4// A Fresh Look in The Dining Area

I love how changing up just one section of my house makes such an impact! Last weekend I changed out the linens on my dining room table and I’ve enjoyed it so much. When Paul has to work late, I usually eat supper at the bar counter. This week I ate at the table because it was so inviting!

5// Dollar Tree Treasures

I’ve seen a few people who found these beautiful shiny pumpkins at Dollar Tree, and I finally found a few for my collection! When I walk into Dollar Tree or the Target Dollar Spot and see something on the shelf that I’ve been hunting, I literally feel like everything is in slow motion until I get my hands on the item. I can almost hear Chariots of Fire playing in the background!

What’s made your week extra special? Tell me about it!

  1. Forgot my favorite part of the week: Assuming it was a success, it has to be my sister’s surgery. She has been dealing with colon issues since January, and it would be a miracle to have it all over with and her healed up. The doctor said it could take at least a month to totally heal, but she’s been feeling really good so far. Praise the Lord! 🙂

  2. Happy 4th Blogging Anniversary! 🙂 That’s quite an accomplishment! I’ve enjoyed keeping up with your adventures and look forward to each post. Fall……yes!!! I’m in full fall mode right now and have been trying to pace myself a bit. It’s so fun to see the pumpkins and things in stores, and I’ve snagged a few decor additions for the season. Your shiny pumpkins are really neat! I’ve been trying to find a burplap pumpkin with no luck. I did get some green ones, though! It seems strange to have green pumpkins, but there is a variety that’s meant to be green that I’ve seen at the local pumpkin patch. They are naturally a green hue, not orange. Who knew?!

    Love your fall nails! I haven’t tried Avon’s gel finish, but I remember liking some of their polishes from years ago. I can’t wait to dig out my fall polishes and my sweaters! 🙂

    1. Thank you! I hope you can find those burlap pumpkins! I had a green pumpkin years ago and ended up painting it white when I decided to go more neutral with my fall decor. It’s definitely not a color you see often in pumpkin patches! 🙂
