Snow Day! {2018}

In case you didn’t hear, the South got some snow this week! I love having a few snow days each winter – there’s nothing like being “snowed in” under 3 inches of beautiful flakes, with an unexpected day at home to enjoy the coziness! Unlike our very unexpected snow weekend in December, this one came on Wednesday morning and cancelled work for both of us! Paul and I got to stay home together and just hang out, which is such a special treat.

I love how the colors change throughout the day – these three shots from our back deck are totally unedited!

I took my time with all three of our meals and enjoyed preparing things we don’t normally eat during a busy day. At lunch I made soup to order – Chicken Sausage and Potato Chowder for Paul, Broccoli Cheddar Soup for me!

I spent a lot of time playing in the snow as a child – but now I’m just as happy to enjoy the snow from inside. šŸ™‚

It was a relaxing day, but not unproductive. I finished up some post-Christmas organizing at my desk, decluttered a shelf in my home decor closet and played the piano for a while. We wrapped up the evening with a bowl of ice cream and a good TV show.

I’m always glad to have these memories come July! šŸ™‚ Our summers are hot and humid, but we definitely get all four seasons and I love it!

  1. I’m always excited when I hear you guys are getting snow, as I know how uncomfortable your summers are. Glad you get to cool off a bit! šŸ™‚ I made some white chicken chili that gave Mom and I several comforting meals during this week’s blizzard. We had some really pretty trees during the recent storm. I’m also looking forward to enjoying some cozy food while the Winter Olympics are on!

  2. I am glad you had such a good day at home with Paul! I always giggle a little at southern snow days because in Canada that amount of snow is called a “skiff of snow”, which basically means hardly any snow at all. LOL. It is just the difference in climates. I would be a puddle in your hot, humid summers. I much prefer cooler weather!

  3. It is warming up here today and I am looking forward to it. The extreme cold was getting on my last nerve.:) Your pictures are so pretty…we just got a smattering of snow and icy roads. Ugh!!

  4. Your photos are beautiful (I think that last one is my favorite!) and I’m happy for you that you and your hubby could enjoy a snow day together. I think I need to try that chicken sausage and potato chowder recipe. We love chicken sausage and we love soup!
