I love Valentine’s Day, and not just because I’m in a committed love relationship! Valentine’s Day is a great opportunity to express love to anyone who means a lot to you – whether it’s someone in your family or a close friend! That’s what I had in mind when I put together this month’s tablescape. Here’s how I would set the table if inviting a friend over for a Valentine’s lunch or dessert!
I didn’t purchase anything new for this table setting, but simply gathered items in different textures and heights from around the house. The soft pink of the blanket scarf was the perfect base for the setting, and I love the fringe on the edges. Even though I only set the table with a lunch plate, I layered it on a gold charger to give the place setting a finished look.
I certainly plan on celebrating the romantic aspects of Valentine’s Day and I hope you can, too! However, I hope you’ll also look for a way to share some V-Day love with someone else in your life. Here are some ideas:
- Invite a widow to your home for lunch (on a lovely table setting like this one, of course!)
- Host a tea party for your niece, daughter or young neighbor
- Send a few Dollar Tree Valentines goodies to the kids in your family
- Set a pretty table with your good dishes and serve your family a festive Valentine’s Day meal!
How are you celebrating Valentine’s Day?
I am a little late with this comment. I love your tablescape. Just goes to show you don’t have to use red to make your table look festive and romantic.
Every year around Valentine’s Day I host a tea party for my granddaughters and their friends. The mothers and grandmothers are included. It is a very fun tradition.
This year instead of sending money to my out of town grandkids I went to the Dollar Tree and got Valentine items to mail them. That was so much more fun that putting a few bucks in the mail.
And I a new tradition has been started this year. I made a nice dinner for my husband with lots of his favorite foods and Lava Cake for dessert.

So sweet! Looks like you’re ready for a sweet tea party. I used to collect tea pots. Our February plans include making valentines for friends, class party, make and share sugar cookies and spread the love this month!

One of the tea pots I used in this post was a Christmas gift from my parents when I was in elementary school. It’s a cherished piece of my home decor, for sure!
