5 Things I Buy On Black Friday and Cyber Monday

Black Friday has evolved from the old one-day event (that you had to stand out in the cold for 12 hours to experience) to almost a month-long series of sales. I personally prefer the 2018 version of the Black Friday-Cyber Monday weekend – online shopping is so much easier! 🙂

I try to use the Black Friday-Cyber Monday weekend to finish up my Christmas shopping, but to also pick up things I would normally purchase – at a greater discount! Here are five things I buy on Black Friday!

#1 The Big Ticket Item

Black Friday started with those big ticket items like TV’s, Kitchen Aid Mixers and gaming systems, and I love that you can score those deals online now too!

My favorite big ticket item from last year was the Ninja Coffee Bar Single Serve System. It’s perfect for a household with just one coffee drinker – I’ve enjoyed mine so much this year! There are other models that come with a carafe – those are better suited for those who make a whole pot every day. Last year Walmart had the best deal on this one, so I’d definitely check there as well as Amazon and Kohls.

#2 High End Makeup

Tartelette Tease Eyeshadow Palette – if I’m looking for a Tarte product, I always check the Tarte website as well as Ulta and Sephora – Tarte usually has great deals! I linked directly to the palette that I’ve given as gifts and that I asked for last year! I love it!

Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette – this is a great neutral palette. They also have a couple versions of their other larger palettes in “petite,” which I love!

UPDATED FOR CYBER MONDAY: Tarte.com is offering 25% off sitewide with code CYBER plus free shipping when you spend $25! This contour palette is on my wish list!

If you want to gift makeup this year but don’t want to spend quite that much money, I think Avon has some really nice products!

Avon True Color Lipstick – I think Avon products have great quality without the Ulta/Sephora price tag! This lipstick is one of my everyday go-to’s.

Avon 7-in-1 Nail Enamel – this is great for someone who enjoys having their nails painted but doesn’t want to take a lot of time polishing them! I have a couple shades of this formula, but my favorite is Very Berry.

#3 Christmas Decor Necessities

Dollar General is my first choice for this. I love to stop in there to grab extra lights for the tree, boxes of colored ornaments and for anything else in their Christmas home decor that catches my eye! If they’re running a gift card promotion, I take advantage of that as well. They have great deals and really cute things, and you can be in and out of the store so quickly.

You can also shop Dollar General online! Take $10 off $100 with code NOVSAVE10 at Dollar General! Valid 11/15 – 11/30 or Get 20% off sitewide with code CYBERMONDAY at Dollar General! Valid 11/26

#4 Inspirational/Heartfelt Gifts From Dayspring

I love their gift items! Last year I ordered their Baby’s First Christmas ornament for all 3 of my new nephews. I loved it so much more than the others I’ve seen at Hobby Lobby! I also love giving their perpetual calendars – they aren’t very expensive and are good to throw in your online cart if you need to spend a few more dollars to get free shipping!

Their Cyber Monday deals are live – and they’re even better than Friday’s deals! Use promo code MONDAY18 for 35% Off + Free Shipping on $25 subtotal!

#5 My Happy Planner

Be prepared for this one – it can be really tricky to get the planner you want on Black Friday/Cyber Monday. They go so quickly! I’ve had them sell out faster than I could click through the checkout process more than once! It’s worth trying to snag one, though, because the deals are really great!

This year I’m hoping to grab the Medium Happy Planner in the Whimsy ThemeMichaels usually has the best deals, but I’ll also be watching Amazon. My goal is to spend less than $15!

UPDATE 11/22/18 – I ended up getting this planner from Jo-Ann’s for $10.03!! I found a comparable planner (the one I wanted is sold out most places), chose ship-to-store and used code SAVINGSBF for an additional 25% off my purchase!!

One last tip – don’t forget to use Ebates to earn cash back with your online purchases! If you install the toolbar, it shows you how much cash back is available and will find any coupon codes that apply to your purchase. I’ve earned over $250 from Ebates! By using my referral link, you’ll get a $10 bonus for your first purchase over $25.

I am taking the rest of the week off for my annual Thanksgiving break! You are at the top of my Thanksgiving list – I am so grateful that you choose to join me here on my blog. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving week, my friends! ❤

  1. ebates is AMAZING!! I racked up a good amount this week, so February will be exciting (receiving the cash back)! 🙂 Online shopping is SO much better than lines and crowds. I did venture out today to Bath & Body Works for their fragrance mist sale and used my free gift with purchase coupon to get a full-sized body cream. Love that deal!! (P.S. Your shopping partner looks cozy. Was Peggy making sure you got things on her Christmas list? 🙂 )

  2. Thank you for sharing the Happy Planner deal, I picked that one up, or rather, I ordered it online and will pick it up in my local store. Since we don’t have sales tax in NH, I got it for $9.37! Awesome!
