Let’s have a little bit of what we refer to in church as “Fellowship Time.” There are some new faces (and lots of old friends) around here today, so I thought I’d take a minute to round up a few things you might not know about me!
At church fellowships there are usually “refreshments,” so please feel free to grab a donut, a bagel and a cup of coffee or tea before reading any further. 🙂
5 Things About Me:
- I’ve been married for a little over 8 years, but my marriage is not perfect.
- We don’t have children, but I love being an aunt!
- I love living in the South, even with the early, long, humid summers.
- I’m a crazy cat lady
- I wear lipstick every day, even if I’m not leaving the house.
5 Things I Love:
- Country music
- Mexican food
- The Mountains
- Organizing
- Shopping at Dollar Tree
5 Things I Don’t Like:
- Starbucks
- Crime shows or action movies
- The ocean
- Shopping for clothes
- Surprises
The best, most important thing about my life is that God loves me! None of these things have any meaning apart from my relationship with Him. Everything in my life is a gift from God!

Hi Whitney,
1. I’ve been married 23 years, with two children. I’ve always been a stay at home mama.
2. All of my family live within 5 miles of me in my hometown.
3. We have a wonderful church family.
4. I too love lipstick! I wear makeup every day, perfume, hair, the whole nine yards. It makes
me feel better:)
5. I try and always keep my house tidy.
6. I set the table with candles and napkins every day at supper. I want my family to know I
think they are special. And let’s face it, it’s fun!
7. I love thrifting, decorating and making. I am NOT a minimalist!!! 🙂
8. I’m a midwest girl who has never seen the ocean and am fine with that.
9. I LOVE Southern Gospel music.
10. Lastly, you, your Mom, and Dad inspire and encourage me with your blogs, and I always
look forward to new posts.

Hi Whitney! This is such a fun post, I enjoy getting to know you better as well as reading everyone’s responses. To make my answer more interactive, I’ll mimic your post!
5 things about me:
1. This year I’ll have been married for 23 years. My husband is truly my kindred spirit!
2. We also don’t have children, but like you, I enjoy being an aunt!
3. I also live in a very humid area of the country
4. I also wear lipstick everyday, even if I’m at home. When I leave the house, I always wear a full face of makeup. But when leaving the house, if I had to choose between having makeup on or my hair done, I would choose to have my hair done!
5. I’m not a minimalist, but I do believe less is more in most things. I find beauty in simplicity.
5 things I love:
1. Like you, I love mexican food and I have to add italian food!
2. I also love organizing
3. early mornings before dawn and also dusk
4. reading a real book as opposed to e-reading
5. Rivers
5 things I don’t like:
1. I’m also with you on Starbucks.
2. …and crime shows!
3. Fog
4. shoes that hurt my feet
5. lakes! I love the ocean, rivers, streams, but not too fond of lakes for some reason, lol!

Love your post! We all are unique and I cherish that God made me that way. Here are some things about me…We move frequently with my husband’s work, most recently from North Dakota to New Mexico but I am from the Ozarks in Missouri. I don’t like crime shows either but my husband loves them. I can only watch so much people suffering and sorrow before I am done! Pet lover here! I never drink coffee…it smells good but tastes like something burned to me. And…I am terrified of fish! They smell, are slimy and squishy, and I want nothing to do with them, small, big, alive or not…just NO!

Hi Diana! You’ve been all over the place, haven’t you?! I agree with you on the crime shows – the suffering, sorrow and destruction really gets to me. I like happy shows! 🙂 Your fish aversion makes total sense – I’m not a huge fan either.

This was a fun read! I was surprised by your dislikes because you dress cute so I assumed you enjoyed shopping for clothes. I love country music, too. I’m trying to think of something surprising to tell you… I love watching crime shows – Dateline, Snapped, etc. I blame it on the fact that my dad is a policeman and I grew up watching them. ha!

Literally half of my closet comes from my sister’s hand me downs – and SHE loves to shop. I am so blessed to benefit from her hobbies. Ha! I can’t watch more than a minute of Dateline without being extremely terrified and paranoid!

I like to walk on the beach (preferably early in the morning or late at night) and hear the ocean but I don’t like to go to the beach and sit in the hot sun or swim in the ocean at all.

Yes! I’m with you on that – the beach is just to hot and windy! 🙂

I am more of a girly girl, but have 3 boys, so now I’m obsessed with baseball like them. I love to sing, but don’t like being in front of people. I am inspired by your homemaking and am trying to make my home more organized and cozier even though I feel like I don’t have time for it.

Hi Nikki! I know how that is – I am very girly too, but I have 4 nephews and they are the best! 🙂 So glad to have you here and to encourage you in your desire for homemaking. Hugs!

I don’t think I knew you don’t like the ocean. I love going to the beach!! I especially love the Charleston area. I like going off season when it’s not so crowded (or hot!).

I KNOW you love the beach! 🙂 Yeah, to me the beach is just a combo of all the things that annoy me…wind, heat, humidity….and being outside. LOL.

I love the mountains and the ocean… Living in Northern CA, we usually hit the Redwoods/ocean every summer at our campmeeting.
I love BBC British period drama, everything home, and Jesus.

I love this post Whitney. You and I are a lot a like but I hate to tell you that I LOVE crime shows. IDTV is one of my favorite channels. I cannot watch too much of it or I become really paranoid, looking for bad guys everywhere. 🙂

See, that’s why I can’t watch crime shows! I started Blue Bloods but couldn’t get past episode two without being terrified that those situations would happen to me!! LOL.

Hi Whitney,
I love the mountains and the ocean, but I also love lakes and bays. I live on the west coast, so our family trips are usually to the coast. I love coffee and tea, especially chai. Thank you for sharing a little more about yourself.

Fun post, friend! I love both mountains and the ocean. I didn’t see an ocean until I was 37, but then saw the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans during that same year. As for mountains – I’ve been to the Alps, the Rockies, hiked a mountain in Yosemite (the most terrifying, amazing, and breathtaking birthday of my life!) and most recently those gorgeous Great Smoky Mountains – where I met one of my favorite friends in person! 😉 I’m not a coffee drinker, so I only visit Starbucks when meeting up with a friend (preferably with a mountain view!) or for a quick breakfast at Disney. I can’t stand the taste of hot coffee (even though I’ve tried to make myself like it – lol!), but I do enjoy an occasional cold coffee drink topped with chocolate, naturally!

I didn’t know that you were a new ocean-viewer! 🙂 Paul has seen the ocean (like from our hotel in Atlantic City) but hasn’t ever been IN it. I’m hoping we can do a beach vacation for him soon! I’m proud of you for trying to like coffee – that’s adorable! ❤

I love Gatlinburg – we even stayed there for our honeymoon. 🙂 My husband hasn’t ever vacationed at the beach, and I’m hoping to take him to the Gulf for his first ocean experience. I like it better than the Carolina beaches!
