My Intentional Morning Routine

It’s amazing how much I can get done and how much better I feel about the day when I’m intentional about my mornings! Since starting a new job a couple weeks ago, I’ve had to tweak my routine just a bit. Giving myself blocks of 15-30 minutes really helps me to stay on schedule when I have to be out the door at a certain time.

I am not a morning person, so you’ll notice that none of my morning tasks involve talking to people or doing anything noisy. Over the years I’ve found that it’s actually better to ease into the day instead of sleeping until the last possible moment!

Here is the morning routine that I follow every day except Saturday.

6:00-6:30

  • Wake up
  • Shower
  • Prayer time
  • Make bed
  • Make coffee
  • Start laundry
  • Feed cats & empty litter box

6:30-7:00

  • Share today’s blog post on social media
  • Work on upcoming blog posts or videos

7:00-7:45

7:45-8:00

  • Get dressed

8:00-8:15

  • Breakfast

8:15-8:25

  • Brush teeth & put on lipstick
  • Gather my things and head out the door!

There’s not a lot of wiggle room in this schedule, so I try to lay out as much as possible the night before. My morning routine can’t be successful without a good evening routineMaking sure that my outfit is ready, my lunch has been packed and the dishwasher is empty all help me to keep on track with my morning routine.

I have a sneaky giveaway for you! My friends at California Design Den reached out and asked if I’d like to give away a set of their luxury sheets! I don’t know if these sheets will help your morning routine efforts – because they make it hard to get out of bed! The set that I own is currently on our guest bed and Paul is really jealous that they aren’t in our room. Ha!

The giveaway is being held on my Instagram feed, so make sure you CLICK HERE to visit that post and enter the giveaway. I’ll give you – my sweet blog readers – an extra entry if you leave a comment on this blog post and tell me one thing that you either currently have in your morning routine or one thing you need to add to your morning routine!

I also have a coupon code to share with you: use code MOMCDD10 to receive 10% off your purchase on their Amazon storefront through May 6, 2019.

Don’t forget to click here and enter the giveaway on Instagram! This giveaway is sponsored by California Design Den – it will run until midnight on Sunday, May 5, 2019.

  1. Morning routines are good. One thing in addition to your list is I wake up and make a goal for the day. Is there a task I want to accomplish for the day regardless of what else I have planned.

  2. I work full-time and have developed a good morning routine that works for me, which is ESSENTIAL. I set aside half an hour or more for exercise, as this is really important to me and necessary for maintaining my health. My morning devotions are even more important so the next half hour is spent with my Bible and journal, then an hour to shower, dress/hair/makeup before leaving for work at 8 am.

  3. When I worked and raised my family I had to have a morning routine. But now that I am retired (my husband is retired also) I get out of bed and relax for awhile before I get started. But I know routines are important so a home can run smoothly.

  4. I have to ease into the morning, too ;-)… So, I’m usually up at 5:15 so I can do my devotions, listen to worship music, and check in on my favorite blog posts… 🙂

  5. I love coffee and prayer as part of my morning routine (though it definitely gets interrupted by my early rising baby). I’d like to add to my routine podcast to listen to as I make breakfast for everyone.

  6. Sounds like mornings are smooth at your place- just reading the routine is relaxing 😌
My morning routine is started the night before- we always set the coffee on a timer so that it is ready when we wake up 👍☕️
I would like to build in 15-30 muto contemplate/ read in the morning to ease into the day like you do –

    1. Prepping your coffee the night before is such a smart idea! I love my morning quiet time so much that it helps me get out of bed – I know if I don’t get up immediately I jeopardize the quiet time!

  7. I love this. I know the value of organizing your time, and also the frustration of not staying focused! Like you, I love starting the laundry first thing and listening to scripture as soon as I start with my initial tasks. I feel like I’m wisely multi-tasking. 😊

  8. What a great routine!! And you get up pretty early for not being a morning person. I like your plan to quietly ease into the day. What a fun giveaway!! I currently have iced coffee in my morning routine. I’d like to add some quiet time, some reading and some me time into my morning routine. I usually leave all of that until everyone is in bed for the night.

  9. I agree with you that when I pick up things at night before I go to bed, my morning goes much smoother. So 15 minutes before bed I make sure everything is back in its place.

  10. Great advice for everyone who struggles with homemaking. A schedule is key even if you are home all day. It is easy to fritter time away.( Ask me how I know). I taught all my children to lay out their clothes the night before school and Katy tells me that Ben still does this every night. 🙂

  11. I just returned to the states for furlough so with jet lag, etc. My life doesn’t have much routine. This week I am trying to get back into some kind of schedule. I like to spend time every morning looking over my schedule and making a to-do list and time in God’s word.
