August 2019 In Review

#1 Sister Weekend: My sister got to spend 24 hours at my house, with just the two of us! Paul was out of town and her husband offered to run the show at home so she could have a little mini vacation. We definitely missed her sweet twins, but it was so much fun to have some uninterrupted sister time.

We ate all the good food, watched our favorite shows, shopped and ate some more. Alli lived with us for over a year after she graduated from college, and this weekend was reminiscent of those fun times when both of us had a lot less responsibility. We agreed that we are so thankful for our lives now – but everyone needs a break! 🙂

#2 Tomatoes! The peaches weren’t as good this month, but I enjoyed loads of garden fresh tomatoes! My parents shared theirs with me a couple times this month. I made a tomato pie and several amazing tomato sandwiches. You just can’t do that with store bought produce!

#3 Dollar Tree Hauls: I love shopping Dollar Tree this time of year! Between the back to school/organizing supplies and the incoming fall decor, there’s so much goodness! I shared a big haul on Wednesday, but I occasionally do quick hauls on Instagram when I find things I need to share right then. 🙂

#4 Kitchen Project! At the beginning of the month we had several things done to repair water damage, leaving us with a brand new deck and new kitchen floors (also leaving us poorer #homeownerlife). It looks really nice and I’m thankful we were able to get it taken care of!

#5 Favorite Passage:

“Lord, through all the generations you have been our home! Before the mountains were born, before you gave birth to the earth and the world, from beginning to end, you are God. Satisfy us each morning with your unfailing love, so we may sing for joy to the end of our lives.” Psalm 90:1-2, 14

I’m taking Monday off for Labor Day, but I’ll be back on Wednesday with a few things I learned from our recent home repair project. I’ll see you then!

  1. A great post, Whitney! What a wonderful August you had. I’m especially happy for you as I see you had time with your sister. My girls are so far apart (New Hampshire and Nevada) and they were always so close growing up. So thankful they were able to see one another twice in the past year!

    1. I am so thankful that I’m able to see my sister as often as I do. Even with living a couple hours away, we have to be intentional to make it work. I’m glad your girls have been able to see each other this year!

  2. What a fun month! I love that you got in some quality sister time. That seems to be harder to do as everyone gets older and has more responsibilities. Your new deck looks amazing. I bet that’ll be a fun spot to spend time this Fall and Spring. Hope you have a wonderful weekend 🙂

  3. My sister is visiting us this week! Her and her family moved over 800 miles away a year ago and this is their first visit home (well her and her boys; her husband stayed since he hasn’t earned time off from his new job yet).
