This week I woke up to snow on the ground so I decided it was time to break out the layers. One of the reasons why I love cold weather is because of the opportunity it gives to layer my outfits. I love putting together different colors and textures and creating a whole new look. I think the key to layering is balance. You don’t want to wear too much of the same color and look bland but you also don’t want to wear too many colors and look like a walking box of crayons.
I’ve been wanting to pair this sweatshirt and vest together for awhile, but couldn’t the perfect extra layer to pull the outfit together. Enter my favorite gingham oxford and voila! Outfit completed! *If you don’t have a gingham shirt I highly recommend getting one. Lifesaver for sure* The blue is a nice balance with the pink in my sweatshirt and vest and the gingham print took the whole look up a notch. I added a simple gold necklace and riding boots and was good to go!
If you’re still unsure of how to pull off a layered look, here are a few of my favorite ideas via my Pinterest.
Oxford – Izod
Sweatshirt – Old Navy
Vest – Old Navy
Jeans – Old Navy
Necklace – Charming Charlie
Boots – Platos
Love that pink vest!! The whole combo is just so cute!

Very cute Alli! And I do love that Gingham shirt, perfect for all ages. Thankfully we are warming back up here in North Alabama. I am not a cold weather girl for sure.

Thanks! I’m not a huge cold-weather fan myself, but I do love it during the holiday season. Hope it gets warmer for you!

You are right! That gingham shirt was the perfect piece to complete the look. I just picked up a black and white one at Old Navy. I love your inspiration pictures with stripes and plaids.

Thanks! Ooh black and white gingham can definitely be styled so many ways with those classic colors! I’m glad the inspiration was helpful – plaids and stripes are my favs!

Thanks for the layering ideas and examples. I’m never sure what patterns go together without being too much.
