1// I don’t have a fancy or impressive July 4th recap – Paul and I had lunch at CFA, ran errands and came home for a delicious supper of hot dogs, potato salad and corn on the cob. We’ve been into the old Jerry Lewis/Dean Martin movies lately, so we watched part of one and then enjoyed NYC’s fireworks from the comfort of our couch. It was a good 4th! 🙂
2// Monday morning I met my family and a few other friends at the new outlet mall in Asheville, NC. We found some good deals despite the Dillard’s outlet being closed for the day (major bummer!). Alli and I had another awesome taco lunch at Neo Burrito. I think that’s my favorite restaurant in Asheville!
3// This could truly be a monthly recurring H54F event (especially in the summer) – I got my hair cut last night! Having short hair that grows rapidly makes those hair appointments feel like major events. As a bonus, I always have a great time chatting with my hair stylist. She gave me a great tip last month that I’m sharing next week in a post – it has nothing to do with hair!
4// I’m one of the many who is enamored by the Royals. And the pictures from Princess Charlotte’s christening? Could this be a more beautiful family? (source)
5// At 6:00 today I will officially begin my week of summer vacation! Every year I like to take a week off from the day job sometime in July. I have several fun things planned and you can be sure they’ll appear right here next Friday! 🙂 Things won’t look any different on the blog – I’ll still have posts all week as usual.
Have a lovely weekend!

We should’ve had a royal baby watch for our blogs!hahaha I loved looking at all of the pictures from the event. I can’t wait to see what the tip is. Boo for Dillard’s being closed. And I can’t wait til Tuesday!!!!!!!!!! <– does the # of exclamation points adequately convey my excitement?!

Oh man a baby watch would have been fun! And yes I’m SO excited for Tuesday!!! Can’t wait! 😊
I am such a Royal watcher! I just love them! Your Fourth sounds like it was nice. :). Enjoy your vacation!
Thanks Ashley!
I really enjoy the royals too! I think I secretly want to me Kate Middleton, at least in the hair and wardrobe department! Enjoy your week off!
Me too, Cat! I’d love to have a few of her outfits!
A new outlet in Asheville? Now I just need to plan a road trip out there. I’ve been itching to head that way, since it’s so stinking hot here in Durham. Your 4th of July sounds like an absolute delight – that kind of day is right up my alley.
And I just can’t get enough of christening pics. They are so adorable! I loved watching the live video too of them walking to the church. What a sweet tradition! Sigh….
Hope you have a fabulous weekend!
Yes! You should definitely plan a road trip to the new outlets. But tell me when you’re coming and I’ll meet you there! 🙂 My favorite lunch place (Neo Burrito) has lots of vegetarian options…. 🙂
I really like your color of lipstick in the top picture! Getting my hair cut used to be a big event for me too when I wore a short pixie. Every now and then I think about getting it chopped but chicken out. LOL Enjoy your vacation time!
Thank you Emily! That’s my favorite lip color. I wish I could pull off a pixie – I bet it was super cute on you!
My borther in law lives in Brevard and we are going there in October. I have heard about that Dillard’s outlet so hoping to check it out someday. And like you, I LOVED the photos from Princess Charlotte’s christening. They seem like such a loving little family and I follow Kate on Instagram just to check out her beautiful ensembles. Have a great week off, I know it will fly by!!
Brevard is a fun town – I worked at a camp not far from there for 8 years!
Was it the Wilds? My kids went there with their Christian School. One of our friends managed Cool Beans in the summers.
Yep! Are you talking about Megan Stowe Snyder?
I could not answer below Whitney so I jumped in here! Yes it is Meagan. I have known her since she was in third grade. She and my youngest son were in the same class and she is such a sweetheart.
It’s such a small world, isn’t it? I worked with both Meagan and Brooke at camp! They are both such sweet girls.
Happy Friday, Whitney! Sounds like you enjoyed a nice 4th …and hot dogs were involved so I know your hubby was happy! 😉 Plus, bargain shopping with friends and family, and a fresh haircut — what a wonderful week! So excited for you that it’s summer vacation time!! ENJOY!! 😀
Haha you know Paul well! He was thrilled to have the hot dogs. 🙂
