I am pretty sure that I’m in the minority on this, but summer is not my favorite season. I know, everyone loves summer except me. 🙂 One of the things I struggle with is finding outfits that are appropriate for work or church that aren’t too casual or too hot.
Just in case you’re in the same boat (a hot, muggy boat where it rains half the time), today I’m sharing 5 outfits that I wore to work over the last couple weeks. These probably aren’t the outfits you’ll wear for running errands or spending the day at Dollywood, but they work well for a business casual environment.
You can hear me talk through these outfits in the video below!
My outfits come from JCPenney, Old Navy, Target (kids), Ross and similar overstock stores like that. I hope you enjoy this video, despite my morning voice. Ha!
(the announcement I mentioned starts at 7:37)
Items Available To Shop:
JCPenney Cropped Jeans
JCPenney Palazzo Pants
Old Navy Swing Dress (I ordered a petite medium)
Old Navy Flutter Sleeve Top (I have the “Oceanside”color)
Some of the accessories I mentioned from Cents of Style are old, but you can shop their collection here.

That floral dress is so fun! I bet it would be cool for outside and comfy for work. It’s 60 degrees in IN the past couple days so we are confused with how to dress for Summer right now 🙂
Bless your hearts – I saw someone post on Facebook last weekend wearing sweatshirts on their Indiana farm. On the other hand, my sister visited me yesterday and said she couldn’t believe how hot it is here. I believe it! 🙂
The swing dress has totally become my new “uniform”! I wear mine with either a jean jacket/ cardigan/ or white hoodie depending on where I’m going… and I complete the look my “cork sandals” I bought at Walmart for 15.00… I work as a nurse in a Christian school, so my business casual needs to be very similar to yours! I love your outfit ideas!!! 🙂 Thanks for sharing and can’t wait for your fall content!
Such a good idea! I love having more than one color of the swing dress each season.
