My dad loves to hike, particularly on the Appalachian Trail. When my sister and I started planning his 65th birthday party we knew it had to include his love for this hobby.
I did some browsing on Pinterest and came up with my own twist on the ideas I found there. We settled on a date and decided to host the party at my sister’s house. I created this invitation on PicMonkey (Canva would work too) and dropped it in the family group chat.

I wanted the invitation to mimic the trail signs I see in Dad’s hiking pictures!

This party theme is perfect for winter. As I was packing up my Christmas decor, I pulled all the trees and woodland-type decor pieces. I had some acrylic deer from Dollar Tree that were perfect!

Adding in some framed pictures from Dad’s hikes gave the decor a personal touch. I uploaded them to my Walgreens app and they were ready in about an hour. I popped the photos into Dollar Tree frames.

My sister was in charge of food (always a good idea). She served an amazing BBQ lunch with pulled pork sliders, coleslaw, macaroni and cheese, and a key lime fruit salad. It was delicious!

Dad loves peanut butter pie, so I made this chocolate peanut butter pie from Southern Living. It’s a good one!

We had so much fun celebrating Dad! He’s such a servant and is always doing things for us, so it was nice to have a chance to do something special for him.

I was inspired on Pinterest to do trail mix party favors and came up with tags using the invitation template. I like matching the party favors to the invitation because it carries the party theme from beginning to end!

I found a good chocolate and nut combo mix at Aldi and portioned it out into little zippered treat bags from Dollar Tree.

I love planning parties with my sister! We always have the best time coming up with food and treats for the people we love.

This is definitely an inherited trait. 🙂 Mom hosted Christmas and several other big events recently, so we gave her the day off from this party. She got to show up and enjoy the day!

What a sweet party! It looked like everyone enjoyed their time together and your theme was great. It’s tricky to find themes for adults, but yours was perfect. Edible party favors are my favorite and picture party decorations are always fun. I’m the only one at my house who eats peanut butter pie so I rarely make it. Yours looks delicious. Great work, girls!
Thank you! It was so much fun. You’re exactly right, it’s so hard to find adult party themes that don’t have to do with being over the hill or consuming alcohol. Ha!
I love the theme y’all chose; so fun! And that peanut butter pie looks absolutely delicious!
Thank you! That pie is worth the effort, that’s for sure.
I loved remembering all the fun this day was! You and Alli did a great job and made Dad feel loved by remembering him on his day, and emphasizing all the things he loves!
