Grab a cup of coffee or a snack, and let’s catch up! Here’s a peek at what’s been going on in my life lately.

Work Life

Right now I’m very grateful to be working from home. I’m doing my favorite job, working as an administrative assistant, and currently I’m doing it for one of my favorite churches. Most days I end up sharing my office chair with a cat.

I’m also assisting my parents in their new venture, D&D Ministries. I handle all their speaking requests, coordinate with the ministries before they arrive, create handouts and slides, and manage their social media. I’m honored to be working with them!

By the way – if your church or ministry is looking for a speaker for 2025, you can learn about their ministry here. I know they would be a blessing to you.

Fun Times

We kicked off the year at Disney World which is pretty hard to beat. Still we’ve managed to make lots of fun memories so far this year.

In January we celebrated some fun family events. My brother in law assumed the lead pastor role at the church my dad pastored for over 20 years. They are both still on staff there, just in new roles. Our whole family attended his installation service. It was a great day!

My dad turned 65 in January and we had lots of fun celebrating him (and his love for hiking the Appalachian Trail).

In February I came down with a nasty bug, but I still managed to salvage the month and paint the guest room. I hate painting but it was a job that had to be done and I’m so happy with the results (full post on that room coming soon!).

I’ve been able to travel with Paul to several of his lacrosse games this season. He’s been officiating lacrosse for nine years now and I’m really proud of how well he’s advanced in this sport.

The games sometimes take us near the area where my family lives, which is always fun! One day my Mom met me for a couple hours of shopping while Paul refereed.

I spent a couple days with my nephews so their parents could have a little time away. My dad met up with us at Chick Fil A – and the boys were thrilled to have Pappa with us. 🙂

When I saw that High School Musical was coming to my favorite local theatre, I knew my sister and I had to see it together. It’s one of her favorites from high school and they did a great job with it! We’ll take HSM over Taylor Swift any day. 🙂

The next morning we got to enjoy a delicious brunch at Select (one of my favorite spots in Greer) and a stroll through the park all in bloom.

Spring in South Carolina has not disappointed. It’s been gorgeous this month!

From The Bible Recap

I’m on my 7th trip through the Bible, and I’m enjoying it more than ever before. This year I’ve gone back to my practice of writing a one sentence “God shot” after I read the passage, summarizing something I saw about God’s character or actions. Here are a few I’ve jotted down so far:

  • God is always working, even through trials
  • Gods presence makes hard journeys sweeter
  • God is better to me than I can imagine
  • God hears, remembers, sees, knows.
  • God speaks even when we’re not ready or willing to listen
  • God wants to make his name known on the whole earth.
  • God uses death to bring about redemption.
  • God is our salvation
  • God provides relief and provision in ways I can’t think up on my own
  • God knows his people intimately and calls them by name
  • God is intentional about meeting with his people

There is none like the God of Jeshurun, who rides the heavens to your aid, the clouds in his majesty. The God of old is your dwelling place, and underneath are the everlasting arms. (Deuteronomy 33:26-27)

In January I read the book Don’t Hold Back by David Platt. It challenged my thinking in several ways, but the most impactful part of the book is this definition of the gospel that I have committed to memory:

“The gospel is the good news that the just and gracious Creator of the universe has looked on hopelessly sinful men and women and has sent his Son, Jesus, God in the flesh, to bear his judgment against sin on the cross, and to show his power over sin in his resurrection, so that anyone in any nation who turns from their sin and themselves and trusts in Jesus as Savior and Lord can be forgiven of their sin and reconciled to God for all of eternity.”

It’s been really fun to recognize themes and phrases of that paragraph as I’ve read the Old Testament. It helps me connect what I’m reading with the grand narrative of the Bible – the gospel.
