What do you love?

love is a product of your investments

I heard this statement a few weeks ago and was immediately struck by its truth. Wherever we invest our time, energy and resources – that’s what we love. Imagine that the past week of your life could be displayed in a pie chart. What would be contained in the bigger sections?

Of course we have to devote our time to sleeping, eating, working our day jobs, changing diapers….but what about the time we devote to  the non-essentials? What about the time we spend on Facebook and Instagram? What about reading God’s Word or giving full attention to our spouse? How big would those sections be?

There’s another way to look at this. If your biggest chunk of time is devoted to tasks such as laundry or changing diapers, don’t discount that time as empty labor. By providing a clean, inviting home for our families, we are investing in their lives….which we love!

Matthew 6:21 – For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
