There’s no question about it, I love to shop. This has especially become apparent to my husband as each month during these first 6 months of our marriage he has found money disappearing out of our budget to fund my closet! And while I do love to get new clothes, one way that I strive to keep my budget reasonable is by purchasing items that can be worn in multiple seasons.
This dress, for instance, was a great find because I wore it during the summer and now I’m wearing it in the fall. It’s sleeveless, so in the summer I would wear it with a statement necklace and heels. Now that it’s cooler, I added a cardigan, which I belted to give some shape, and my leopard flats for a little pattern mixing.
Excuse my super squinty eyes, this was taken after a 15 hour day trip with our youth group.
So when you’re out shopping, look for items that you can wear throughout the year…and avoid funding your closet every month (11 months out of 12 is good enough).
Dress – Ann Taylor
Cardigan – Ann Taylor
Shoes – Target
Necklace- Cents of Style
Belt – Old Navy
Love it! I just did a similar thing with a more spring time dress – sweater, tights, and boots…perfect! I love things that can be worn year round!

Alli, I am of “the age” where I do not wear sleeveless dresses anymore but I do like to buy them and pair with a jacket or sweater as you have done. Cute as always!!

Thank you! I think pairing a dress with a cardigan or jacket is a great option since you can always change up your look with them! It’s great that you are making your clothes work for you!
