Hello! Welcome to another month in review, where I wrap up the month’s highlights and share a peek into my life over the last few weeks.

FAVORITE PURCHASES

I’m working on building a spring/summer wardrobe for myself. Now that I’m not working in an office anymore, I needed some new things for this season of life. Walmart has some really affordable options for those basic summer pieces. Here’s what I’ve purchased so far:

  • Short Sleeved Tiered Dress – This style of dress seems to be really popular right now! I’ve seen quite a few people wearing it already this spring. I ordered a small in black and in turquoise.
  • Crop Box Tee – it looks like this is mostly sold out online, but you might be able to find it in stores. I ordered a medium for a fitted look and the large for a more relaxed look.
  • Wide Leg Pants – I ordered the medium for the fit in the waist and seat. As always, I had to hem several inches off the bottom. That’s just life when you’re 4’10”
  • Paperbag Waist Shorts – These are so comfortable! I think they’ll be nice and cool for our hot summer days.

THE HIGHLIGHTS

The mild weather we’ve enjoyed this month allowed us to spend lots of time at our local parks. We’ve met up with friends, gone for early morning park hops and even run into friends unexpectedly!

You know you’re doing something right when you allow the kiddos to choose any fast food restaurant they want and they choose Chick Fil A. 🙂 We enjoyed a family night together last weekend and I enjoyed having the night off from cooking.

It’s been a busy month for Paul with lots of lacrosse games to officiate, so I’ve done my best to hold down the fort. He’s the fun parent and is much more likely to say yes to requests, so I know everyone is looking forward to the end of his sports season. 🙂

I really wanted to create some fun memories at Easter. We dyed eggs on Saturday – thanks to everyone on Instagram who voted in our contest! The winner ended up being our middle kiddos’ green watercolor with Paul’s striped egg coming in second.

On Easter Sunday we had a festive breakfast, opened Easter baskets, and most importantly celebrated the resurrection together at church.

After church we came home to all the Easter dinner favorites, including banana pudding made by our oldest. The younger two got to hunt for eggs in the yard. It was a good day and lots of memories were made.

However, this was also one of our most difficult parenting days to date. Holidays can be hard in any family, but even more so with adoption. That is the reality. It’s nothing like I’ve ever experienced before, but I’m so thankful for the hope and redemption that is made possible because Jesus lives.

FROM THIS MONTH’S BIBLE READING

I am certain that I will see the Lord’s goodness in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart be courageous. Wait for the Lord. Psalm 27:13-14

Goodness, strength, and courage are things I’ve needed this month. The Bible Recap plan took me through some of my favorite stories, quite a few lists of names, and some precious truths in the book of Psalms.

While my heart is so grateful for the hope of eternity, I’m also so glad that knowing Jesus brings goodness and joy to this life. Things aren’t always easy and they certainly aren’t perfect – but I can find courage and joy as I walk with God.

  1. We’ve been enjoying the mild spring weather, too. Playgrounds are definitely more fun now than in the hot summer. We tend to shoot for early morning and evening activities outside once it gets hot. Thank goodness for libraries and inside activities for the middle of the day. Walmart does have some cute affordable options this season! I just grabbed 2 new dresses and some workout gear. I have that blue dress in olive green and black. Love them!
