Spending time with Christy Jordan is like hanging out with your best friend (if your best friend is a perky, sweet, caring lady from Alabama!). For the past four years, I’ve been tuned in to SouthernPlate.com, the home of Christy Jordan’s delicious recipes and refreshing outlook on life. I collected both of her cookbooks and made her recipes part of my signature kitchen fare. Through her food and her wisdom, Christy Jordan has impacted my life.
I had the privilege of catching one of the last stops of her book tour Monday night. I’ve mentioned how much I love her second cookbook, Come Home to Supper, and I was excited to hear some of the background on the book (and to have her sign a page of it!).
I love to listen to women who find the center of their world at home. My heart identifies with the desire to nurture your family above all else. Christy mentioned several times that her ultimate life goal was to be a wife and mama. “Living the dream” looks very different when you begin with that premise, doesn’t it?
Christy made three statements during the evening that especially caught my attention (I’m paraphrasing):
- Cooking is the glue that holds a family together.
- Every time I put supper on the table, I am grateful for the blessing of being able to feed my family.
- If there is anything worthwhile in me, it is a direct result of God’s grace in my life.
I was so encouraged by her words. Being able to nurture our families through good food is truly a blessing!
You can follow Christy Jordan on SouthernPlate.com, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
You can also hear her speak at Becoming this summer!
I love those three statements!! I’m so glad that you were encouraged! Thanks for sharing! (:
