Packing Essentials : Beach Edition

What to pack for the beach via ComeHomeForComfort.com

Since I’m super excited about my beach vacation coming up in just a couple days, I’m sharing another beach related post with you today! Last week I talked about my favorite beach beauty essentials and today I’m sharing my suitcase essentials.

I tend to be an over-packer, but since I usually end up wearing only half of the things I pack, I’m really trying to downsize this time. Here’s an overview of what will be in my suitcase for a 9 day vacation (all of which will fit in a carry on suitcase):

  • 8 tops – mostly casual but a couple dressy ones
  • 4 pairs of shorts – all in neutral colors to go with my tops
  • 2 cardigans
  • 1 maxi dress
  • 2 sundresses
  • 1 raincoat
  • 2 swimsuits
  • 1 beach cover-up
  • Running shorts and shirt
  • Floppy hat and baseball hat

When I type it all out it seems like a lot, but all of those items will fit in a carry on suitcase. I didn’t include shoes because I’m not sure yet which shoes I’ll take, but I can always fit my shoes in the front pocket of my suitcase.

Before packing, I got a few ideas on what essentials I should take here. That post is a little more detailed if you want some more insight on what to pack!

What do you pack for vacation? If I missed an essential, let me know!

  1. It looks like you have a great variety of outfits to choose from. I love all the colors and outfit combinations. I always struggle with bringing the right amount of shoes – not too many and not too few 🙂 Way to go on getting everything in a carry on! That’s quite an achievement in my over packing books

    1. Thanks! I’m planning on doing a follow-up post on the outfits I make from the clothes I bring – just have to remember to take pictures while on vacation!

  2. I always pack a pair of jeans & a light jacket. It seems like when I don’t, we always end up with a cold or wind or rainy day, wishing I had some. 🙂
