My husband and I are leaving for the beach to celebrate our one year anniversary in just 11 days and I couldn’t be more excited! We’ve been planning our trip for months so I can’t believe how close we are getting to it!
I love how laid back I can be when on vacation and that includes taking my daily makeup routine down a notch. Since I’ll be spending most of my time by the pool or out on the beach, I like to keep my makeup routine minimal and easy and focus on giving my face a sun-kissed, natural look. Today I’m sharing my top makeup essentials for a beach getaway that will give you less time in front of the mirror and more time in the sun!
E.l.f. Tinted Moisturizer in Porcelain – I love this stuff because it gives me the same coverage I get from foundation, but without the feeling of having a lot of makeup on my face. I’m very fair-skinned so I get the lightest shade available and it still makes me look like I have a nice tan on my face. The addition of SPF 20 also makes this perfect for beach wear as I always need to wear some sunscreen to avoid getting burnt!
Covergirl Professional 3-in-1 Waterproof Mascara in Very Black– Waterproof mascara is an obvious must when I’m at the pool. There’s really nothing more silly looking than a girl whose black mascara has given her raccoon eyes! Typically I wear black eyeliner as well, but for the beach I opt for just a dark mascara that will lengthen my lashes and accentuate my eyes. This goes along with the natural look I’m going for but keeps my eyes from looking tired and small.
Covergirl Lip Perfection Jumbo Gloss Balm in Haute Pink Twist– My lips are naturally very pale so I always have to wear some kind of lip color. For the beach I like to wear a bright color that will help brighten my face and give my lips some shine. I usually go with a light coral or pink since I’m so fair-skinned. I also use a lip balm instead of lip gloss since it keeps my lips from getting dried out and gives me longer lasting coverage.
Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Extreme Wear in Coral Reef – Wearing nail polish always makes me feel put together, so since I’m backing off the makeup I like to add a little something extra to my look with a fun nail color. To me, nothing says beachy like a bright coral, so I will definitely have my hands and feet set with this color! I’ve found that my nail polish wears off quicker when I’m spending time in the pool or ocean so I always bring my polish along with me so I can touch up my nails when necessary.
So there you go – my four beach beauty essentials! If we’re going out to dinner or something like that, I will add a little blush and maybe some light eyeliner, but I’ll be keeping it pretty basic all week. What are your beach beauty must-haves? If there’s something you absolutely have to have let me know!
Great roundup, Alli! Love that nail polish, and I really need to try out that lip product. When I’m at the beach, I always take sea salt spray for my hair because I tend to scrunch it the entire time. And happy anniversary!

Happy Anniversary! How exciting! I love that nail polish. Anything coral these days makes me happy. But that’s such a bright, cheerful color!

Happy one year anniversary, Alli! My beach, beauty must-have is a big floppy hat. It helps me feel presentable, no matter how wind blown my hair gets! 🙂
