It’s time to look back on the week, as I always do. This week wasn’t my favorite for sure, but there were good things along the way that I’ll choose to remember! Everything comes from the hand of a loving Father, and I’m extra thankful for those little blessings He sends.
1// I had two really good suppers on the menu this week! On Sunday I made my favorite traditional Sunday meal – roast chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy, green beans and 10 minute rolls with homemade strawberry jam. Yum. I also tried a new recipe for salisbury steak that will definitely be on repeat!
2// On Saturday we celebrated my hubby’s birthday with our friends and family. We had a fun time eating and spending time with everyone! I have a post all about my party planning process coming up on Tuesday. (If you follow me on Instagram, you know the struggle I have getting a normal smile from him.) 🙂
3// This moment from my Timehop made me laugh out loud. Last night I reminded Paul of his funny comment…after which I learned that he was still under the impression there was a cash prize for not accepting the proposal. LOL.
4// Yesterday was a great mail day! I got my two favorite magazines plus several goodies from bloggy/IRL friends. So much fun – thanks, ladies!
5// Paul and I have weekly date nights to Chick Fil A. We sit in the back corner booth, eat fried food and just talk about life. There’s something about getting out of the house together (even if you don’t have kids!) that gives your relationship a little “oomph.” We still learn things about each other – both deep and inconsequential – and it’s just fun. If you don’t have regular date nights on your calendar, give it a try. Date night is always a highlight of my week!
Have a lovely weekend!

I love your idea of weekly CFA dates. Sounds delicious and a nice break from cooking. I’ll have to keep my ears open for local fundraising deal cards in our area. Hope you had a nice weekend 🙂

That meal looks delicious. I’ve always wanted to make homemade jam, but the process seems to intimidating. I’ll have to try it sometime soon.

You should try it! I make freezer jam – so you don’t have to actually can it. Just mix it up, pour it into jars and let it set up overnight. It stays good for at least a year in the freezer. 🙂

It’s good to be able to focus on the positive even when we have not-so-great weeks! I started a grateful/praise journal a couple of months ago to help me focus on all the blessings God gives me. Your Sunday meal looks delicious, and like a meal we would have around here. My husband and I were just saying last night that we need to go on a date sometime soon. Your Chick-fil-a dates sound great!

There are always such blessings and moments to celebrate each week, even if it wasn’t the greatest week. High five for that! And why don’t they offer money at the end of Bachelor?? What a fun (actually, probably horrible) twist. And hooray for fun mail. I’m saving the BHG and SL for this weekend. Can’t wait! Have a wonderful weekend! And hope next week is better for you. Hugs!

Thanks friend! Yeah I think the money would just take the drama completely over the top. Ha.

Haha, my husband makes humorous comments during the Bachelor/Bachelorette as well! Right now, we are wondering who’s going to receive the final rose this coming Monday, lol. 🙂 I also just received that same issue of Better Homes and Gardens, but haven’t looked through it yet. Don’t those Neapolitan bars on the cover look good? Have a great weekend!

I got my Southern Living too and an offer in the mail to get two years of Martha Stewart Living for $20 so Yes Please. The MARTHA inspires me to be as organized as she is! Of course she has minions to carry out her work!lol. And yes, being away from the house for a meal is always a good time to sit and look at one another and “talk”. And Chic FilA is one of my favorite places to eat! Hope next week is a better one for you Whitney!!

So MANY things that I love about this post!! I love that even when weeks aren’t our favorites we can choose to give thanks to Him for all things! He is worthy of our praise always!! I’m also glad that these Friday posts give us an opportunity to think on and be thankful for the blessings that each week holds. Your hubby’s comment made me laugh out loud too! Thanks for sharing!! LOL. Hooray for fun mail days, and for date night! I can absolutely relate to the joy that a simple date night can bring. 🙂 Have a beautiful weekend, sweet friend! xo

I’m glad someone else thought that was funny – I wasn’t sure if it would be a “you had to be there” kind of thing. Haha!
