Happy Memorial Day! As a proud American, I am so grateful for the brave men and women who have given their lives for my freedom!
Today I am excited to share with you a casual tablescape that I put together for this weekend. While scrolling through Instagram Saturday morning, I saw this picture from Mrs. Erica (the YouTuber that I mentioned on Friday) and was instantly inspired to put together my own patriotic table setting! I love using things I already have on hand, so I went through the house and grabbed a few pieces from my stash. I’ve been keeping house for ten years – some of these things have been around from the beginning.
I went with my basic white plates that work for any holiday, casual linens and red tumblers from Target. The napkins are tied with string to help them hold their shape, and they look just as pretty outside the cup as they do inside the cup!
My centerpiece is something I made last year – you can find the instructions for that project over here. It would be really pretty with some fresh peonies or hydrangeas! I grabbed my trusty star dishes from Dollar General and put my corn on the cob handles in one of them. The other will be perfect for holding a condiment or side.
My new hot dog salt and pepper shakers (from the grocery store!) are the perfect colors for this setting – and what’s more all-American than hot dogs?
We have enjoyed eating at this table all weekend! Happy Memorial Day!

I love this! I used to have an Americana theme in my kitchen, so I actually have dishes that are red, white, and blue with stars. My mamaw got them for me as my wedding gift. I rarely set the table because I’m pretty sure that, between Kane and the cats, they’d end up on the floor, in pieces.
Yeah, I can’t use real flowers in any of my table settings because Peggy would jump right up there, eat the flowers and then curl up for a nap on the table.
So cheery and patriotic! I love that tablecloth and think the gigantic blooms resemble fireworks. 🙂 Those hot dog shakers are so unique….definitely a fun buy! I love finding awesome products at the places I regularly shop.
Thanks! I love that tablecloth too – it will be on the table a lot this summer. 🙂
Very nice Whitney. And thanks for the heads up on Mrs Erica. I watched a few of her blogs and checked out her blog.
You’re welcome! I just happen to like people who live in Alabama! 🙂
Hey what can I say? We get bad press in the news…we are really very nice.lol
Such a cute table and those salt and pepper shakers are awesome. Hope you had a great weekend!
Thank you! Those S&P shakers are so fun.
Looks great! I love the napkins in the cups like fire works and the hot dog S&P shakers are classic. I love a pretty table setting so I’m sure it was fun to eat there all weekend 🙂
Aww, thank you! I thought the cup and napkin combo resembled fireworks too, but I wasn’t sure anyone else would see that. 🙂
Oh those salt and pepper shakers are the best! I love the red tumblers, too!
Thanks, Becky! I love those tumblers – good old Target clearance! 🙂
