In July, we eat peaches! I’ve kept our counter stocked all month with delicious South Carolina and Georgia peaches, and we’ve enjoyed every bite.

Other than eating peaches, here are the rest of July’s highlights and favorites!

#1 July 4th

I recapped our fun day in Tennessee over here  – but it was basically a day of good food and fun just hanging out with my favorite people!

#2 Paul’s Birthday

My husband turned 39 this month! The first birthday we spent together was his 30th, so this was a marker on our “10th summer together” journey. Paul chose Saturday brunch at Eggs Up Grill for his birthday meal and enjoyed a manly brunch of steak and eggs. No avocado toast for this guy!

On his actual birthday we met for lunch at Hwy 55 (probably won’t do that again!) and celebrated with brownies and gifts that evening at home. It was pretty low key but you can guarantee I’m already brainstorming ideas for next year’s 40th birthday celebration!

#3 Early Birthday Celebration For Me

After we celebrated my Mom’s “significant” birthday last summer, the three of us decided to keep planning fun events for the “significant” birthdays in our family. When my Dad turned 60 in January we got together in Asheville, and the next significant birthday is my 35th in September.

My mom and sister looked at everyone’s calendars and decided that with work and travel schedules it was best to celebrate my birthday while we were together for July 4th. We all got to enjoy the individual orange glazed chocolate “firecracker” cakes Mom made for my birthday dessert!

The next day they planned the most fun girls day out! We started with lunch at Gourmet and Company – a beautiful restaurant with the most delicious menu. After that we headed to Austin Springs Spa for manicures! It was relaxing, luxurious and so much fun! We wrapped up the afternoon with shopping and Sonic drinks. The gift of a day with Mom and Alli was so special!

#4 Favorite Outfits

I’m especially loving the denim shorts I found at JC Penney – they’re the same brand as my favorite jeans and are so comfortable! I am pretty sure I bought the 7 inch roll cuff (even though I’m petite) because I wanted them to be nice and long. I don’t see the 7 inch online but I linked the same style in a different length. They are the best!

#5 Favorite Passage: I’m reading through the Bible by listening to it each morning from the New Living Translation. It has been so good. If you’ve never read through the Bible, I highly recommend that you start with the NLT. This month I’ve read through some of the minor prophets like Jonah, Amos and Joel. Here’s one of the verses I loved so much:

“Rejoice in the Lord your God! For the rain he sends demonstrates his faithfulness. Once more the autumn rains will come, as well as the rains of spring.” (Joel 2:23)

It rains a lot in the summer here, and I’ve decided to quote this verse every time we get an afternoon shower. It can even be turned into a prayer back to Him! “Lord, I rejoice in you! You are faithful to send the rain and you’ll be faithful to meet the needs of my heart today.”

  1. Isn’t it so fun to find a pair of shorts that you love!?! Yay!! Your birthday celebration looked like so much fun! I’m glad you ladies are planners so that you can make fun things happen when you’re together. Looks like your Summer is shaping up to be pretty fabulous.

  2. Most of my bottoms come from JC Penney; they are just so comfortable! My husband and I went away for our 40th birthdays (we were born in the same year just a couple months apart so we picked a date in the middle and headed to Charleston SC for 4 days). I am all about celebrating the milestones from here on out. 🙂
