Recapping The Happy Homemaker Challenge + A Milestone!

7 years ago today I began this blog to give myself a place to cultivate and share my love of homemaking. Last month I gave you all the opportunity to do the same, through my #HappyHomemaker2020 Challenge on Instagram. It was a simple challenge where each day we shared a photo of something we loved in our home, based on that day’s prompt.

All month long my Instagram feed was full of Happy Homemakers! If you search that hashtag, you will find over 575 posts from homemakers all over the globe, where we shared the things that make our homes special – kitchens, recipes, treasures, decks & patios, living rooms and the people who live there.

At the end of the month, I asked the ladies that participated to share how the challenge benefited them as homemakers and if they discovered something new they loved about their home. Here are some of their responses – each of them make my heart smile!

I realized that I love our living room just the way it is.

I enjoy – even more – being home!

I discovered how much I love my tiny space.

I didn’t realize just how much of our life story is represented in our home.

It made me aware of the PEOPLE that make my home what it is.

It helped me see more value in the work I put into our home.

It made me more thoughtful about cleaning the kitchen at night.

It helped me see some of the ordinary/routine things and tasks with a better spirit.

It made me appreciate what I have been given.

It helped me to appreciate the little things.

It made me realize how much influence being a homemaker has in each area of my life.

Seven years ago when I launched this blog, I had no idea that I would find a community of like-minded friends who love caring for their homes just as much as I do. To those of you who joined me in my Happy Homemaker Challenge (even if it was just one day!), thank you for giving me the sweetest 7th blogiversary gift! ❤

And to those of you who follow me here on the blog – thank you for being part of the Come Home For Comfort community! I treasure all of you and could not be more grateful that you choose to spend time reading my posts. ❤

  1. Happy bloggy birthday!! I always enjoy what you have to say and share with us. I appreciate your organization and how you’re always thinking ahead with good deals, stocking up on items now to use later or for fun seasonal things. I’ve enjoyed your home projects and DIYs especially this year. Here’s to many more years of celebrating and showcasing homemaking.

  4. Happy BLOGIVERSARY, Whitney! Your blog is an inspiration! The homemaker challenge was a lot of fun and I so enjoyed seeing what the other women posted! The timing was perfect since I was just beginning our 13th year of homeschooling and this project reminded me of how important it is to create a pleasant environment for my children at home during the day AND for my husband and college daughter to come home to at the end of the day. Thanks for putting it all together!
