This is the time of year where I want to pull on the reigns and slow everything down! It’s my favorite season and we’re gearing up for the holidays, which means I want to savor every sweet moment.

Last weekend we had an extra fun date night in downtown Greenville. I scored pretty reasonably priced tickets to see John Crist, one of our favorite comedians from Instagram and YouTube. I try not to take for granted any time we get to participate in an event involving crowds of people and live entertainment! 🙂

Speaking of entertainment, I also got to spend a little bit of time with my sweet nephews! They are so smart and funny, full of personality and LOTS of energy. 🙂 Spending the night at my sister’s house is always a good time! I’m thankful for the opportunity to spend time with her and to build a relationship with her boys.

The cats (Peggy and Thelma Lou) turned 9 at the end of September/beginning of October. They live their best life 24/7 although they don’t get along very well these days.

Every morning before work Paul sits down at their bowls to pet them while they eat. If he sleeps later than usual, Thelma Lou meows at him until he wakes up! 🙂

I’m trying to plan ahead and make sure that I have everything I need before I start decorating for Christmas in a couple weeks. Looking back on my notes from last year, there were a few things I knew I wanted or needed.

  • Smart Plugs: I decided it was time to upgrade to a system that would allow me to control my Christmas tree lights from my phone! These don’t require Alexa or Google Home to operate.
  • White Christmas movie poster and sign – I cannot wait to incorporate these into my decor!

I also purchased these Transformers as birthday gifts for two of my nephews this month! They’re the perfect little gift. I love shipping gifts from Amazon right to our family members in New York – it’s so much faster, less expensive and much more reliable than the postal service.

This month my Bible reading plan took me through the book of Daniel, a favorite book of mine that I’ve read many, many times over the past 20+ years. While I love the example of believers who fearlessly stood for what was right, this time through I looked for what the book teaches me about God. Here’s what I found:

  • God is to be trusted, praised and obeyed – even when He doesn’t answer my prayers the way I think He should.
  • God is with me in my trials.
  • God is love.
  • God delivers!

May the name of God be praised forever and ever, for wisdom and power belong to him. He changes the times and seasons; he removes kings and establishes kings. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding. He reveals the deep and hidden things; he knows what is in the darkness, and light dwells with him. Daniel 2:20-22

We’ve completed 300 days in the Bible in a year reading plan! If you’re reading with me, how’s it going? There’s still time to catch up if you’re behind. Just turn on the audio and let it read to you while you’re driving, getting ready or making supper. There’s no wrong way to consume Scripture! ❤

  1. I think John Crist is so funny! I’d love to see his show in person someday. Smartplugs seems like a great investment in your Christmas decor. I’m hoping to find a few cute new ornaments for each person in the family and I always enjoy picking out our tree. But first I need to come up with a cute thankful activity to do with the kids in November 🙂

  2. Your nephews are indeed so adorable! What a blessing that they are near enough so that you can be a part of their lives.

Reading through the Bible — my husband and I are doing that too. I have a Daily Walk Bible that gives commentary and devotional thoughts along the way, and so am sort of journaling through that along with my reading. My hubby has been reading the same plan only in his regular Bible. What a blessing it has been!
