Easter is only a few days away, so this is the perfect time to start thinking about how you will celebrate!
During December the question is often asked, “Are you ready for Christmas?” It’s a good question because there is a lot to do before Christmas comes – treats to bake, decorations to put up and presents to buy and wrap. People don’t usually ask “Are you ready for Easter?” It’s not as “big” of a holiday as Christmas, right?
Without Easter, there would be no reason to celebrate Christmas. Jesus came as a baby so that He could become a man, give His life on the cross for our sins and then rise from the dead three days later in victory over the grave!
For that reason, I love fixing a big meal and setting a pretty table on Easter weekend. This year we are celebrating with family, but here are a few of my favorite Easter tables from years past.
Deviled eggs and jello salad are my two must-haves for the Easter menu.
The secret to perfect, pretty deviled eggs: beat them with your electric mixer and pipe the filling into the shells. I fill a ziplock bag, snip off a corner and use that as a makeshift piping bag. Don’t forget to dust them with a little paprika!
This is my favorite jello salad that I make every year. I prefer strawberry jello so that it coordinates with the Easter tablescape! 🙂
If your family hasn’t quite gotten back into the routine of attending church in person, this weekend is the perfect opportunity to do that. Going to church doesn’t put a star next to your name in God’s merit book (that doesn’t exist), but it honors him when we place importance on worship.
Jesus came to this earth, died, and rose again. That is the Easter message. Because of that, we can have a personal relationship with God and the promise of a future where we’ll be together with Him. That’s more than enough reason to worship and celebrate this weekend, don’t you agree?
How are you celebrating? Are there any must-have foods on your Easter menu?
I’m going to take a little spring break here on the blog, but I’ll be back next week with a Menu Monday post.
