Spring Decor: Cottage Style {2023}

Decorating is always, for me, about doing the best I can with what I have. It’s easy to see all the new stuff in stores and think I have to have this or that in order to pull off a fresh new look, but that’s not really the truth.

Some of my home decor is in storage right now, so I was even limited on what I had on hand this spring. I was really tempted to pick up some new pieces at Target (I was really tempted by this rattan bunny) but I resisted and was still super pleased with how everything turned out.

Here’s my old faithful white bunny that I’ve used and loved for years! The moss stones are from Dollar Tree and I’ve seen them back in stores this year, along with some little moss bunnies as well.

The blue and white print is a paper napkin that I placed inside a thrifted $2 gold frame from my stash. It doesn’t get much simpler than that!

I like to keep a little air freshener by the door to make my entryway extra welcoming. I just tuck it behind the decor so that it isn’t visible. You could also use a plug-in version if you have an outlet nearby.

The plate and charger vignette on the kitchen counter also serve to hide the outlet and our Echo speaker.

I love playing music in the mornings or while I’m fixing supper. Music makes the house cozy and inviting, but it also has amazing power to both impact bad moods and create good memories!

Our family memorizes a Bible passage together each month, and Psalm 90:14-15 is the one we’re working on for March. We work on it each night during family devotions but I thought it would be nice to incorporate a little bit of it into my decor. It’s a good reminder for me as I go throughout my day, too.

Here’s the rest of the passage from Psalm 90:

Satisfy us in the morning with your faithful love so that we may shout with joy and be glad all our days. Make us rejoice for as many days as you have humbled us, for as many years as we have seen adversity. Let your work be seen by your servants, and your splendor by their children. Let the favor of the Lord our God be on us; establish for us the work of our hands – establish the work of our hands!

You might have noticed a theme in all my little vignettes around the house: rattan, greenery, and some kind of tray or pedestal. I’ve found that it also helps to vary the shapes in your vignette. For example – if you have a round pedestal, ground it with a rectangle placemat or runner.

Spring has definitely sprung in South Carolina and I’m so happy! (Also, see my minivan in the carport? 🙂 )

Have you decorated for spring? If it’s still cold and snowy where you are, you might be inspired by this post over on White Arrows Home. If she can decorate for spring with FEET of snow on the ground, anyone can! 🙂

  1. I LOVE your decor ideas but can’t for the life of me figure out how to decorate with with four boys (plus my husband!) living here. I have beautiful antiques that I would love to display, but these boys are rough. Any tips on making our home pretty AND sturdy? 🙂

    1. Thanks Jama! Here are a few tips for you – I don’t allow rough play in the living room. The coffee table and most of the “lower” surfaces have minimal decor. I have all of my valuable pieces either in storage or way up high. I switched out my plate display rack from china to pretty melamine plates that won’t break when they fall. Hope that gives you some ideas! 😉

  2. Ha! I read your post while listening to the sounds of my husband snow blowing the 6″ of snow we’ve gotten so far this morning (son has to be at work by 7am; I’m sure the neighbors are loving us! Your spring decorations are lovely.

    1. Oh my, Carrie! That’s a lot of snow for March! Hope you can find a way to brighten up your indoors, even when your fresh snow turns to mush. I grew up in Indiana so I try not to take our warm springs for granted here in South Carolina. 🙂

  3. You have a beautiful home! Making do with what you have is not something just everyone can do. You are such an inspiration! I plan to look through my napkins and frames this weekend. Hope you and your family have a great weekend!
