Home: The End

“Through this blog, it is my goal to share simple tips and ideas to help us all cultivate our homes into a place that we can come home for comfort.

Those words were part of the first post I published here on my blog almost eleven years ago. It’s crazy to think of all the things that have taken place since then. When I began blogging, I was busy with a full time office job while also settling into our first home. This blog became the place where I shared my passion for all things home while also chronicling the fun things in everyday life.

This blog connected me with so many new people who have become cherished friends! Blogging in the 2010’s was a special experience with the linkups and strong network of blogging friends eager to support each other. Those were fun times!

I learned that the best way to have a cozy, peaceful home is to have a peaceful heart. Over the past eleven years I have come to love and to desire God’s Word on a new level, and it has been a blessing to share those things here. So many of you have joined me in reading through the Bible every year – that might be my favorite result of blogging!

I’m so proud of the things I accomplished here. As an extension of this blog, I spent six of the past eleven years regularly uploading videos on my YouTube channel where I shared grocery and Dollar Tree hauls, organizing projects, seasonal décor tours, and lots of Christmas content.

This blog also became my scrapbook for sharing everything from weekly highlights (OG readers will remember High Five for Friday!) to cats, holidays, vacations, and end of the year recaps.

You were so kind and supportive as Paul and I pursued adoption (you can read the full story here). We’ve come through that season and are confident that it was the right path to pursue – and that God’s sovereign will was accomplished through the outcome. I’m so grateful that I can’t mess up his will. God is bigger than that!

In September I will celebrate my 40th birthday! My 30’s have been my favorite decade of life so far, and they are well documented here. It’s been so much fun to chronicle and share all of that with you. However, I feel like I’m ready to pull back from that. I know I’m not alone in experiencing this feeling as a blogger.

That, combined with the very changed landscaping of blogging and the reality that I feel like I’ve said everything I wanted to say about homemaking brings me to the necessary announcement that I am retiring from blogging. That doesn’t mean this blog will go away. I plan to maintain this site – it is my scrapbook, after all! It just means that I will not be publishing new posts.

I’m not disappearing from the internet. I do still post at least once a month on Instagram. I hope to see you over there, and you’re always welcome to reach out to me via email (comehomeforcomfort@gmail).

My goal with this blog can be found in my tagline, “inspiring you to make your home a place of comfort.” I still believe that all women – whether single, married, with or without children – have a high calling from their Creator that can be fulfilled through their homes. I have loved using this space to help women thrive in their home lives, no matter their stage or station in life.

Thank you a thousand times over for supporting me, for loving me (and my family!), for showing up here, and for being my friend. ❤

  1. I was one of your readers that would check back every year or so. I found comfort and empathy in your blog. God gives us the desires of our hearts and He gave me the desire to be a homemaker since I was very very little. I was raised in DC and that was very frowned upon, there atleast, and I would get comments like, “You want to stare at the wall all day?”. One time my Sunday School teacher found out so the next lesson was on how women don’t need to be like the women in the Bible in these modern times. I just started to lie and say I wanted to be a teacher or nurse, etc. And even after getting married in women’s Bible studies during the day with stay-at-home moms they talked as if their lives were on pause until they could go back to work and make something out of themselves and get back to “important” work and they would always describe themselves as ” I use to be a journalist (or whatever)”. I could never find anyone in real life who looked at homemaking as a calling and found purpose in it. So I went to blogland to find it. I appreciate the work you did to bring a significance to the work of managing a home and the joy that can be found in Christ through that work. So, thank you. You don’t always realize what you have until its gone, and I’ll miss your blog. So I’ll get to enjoy all the old posts that I missed. May God bless you ever increasingly with the good stuff, spiritual blessings, in your forties.

  2. I have enjoyed your blog for the last several years. A small connection to the sweet girl who befriended my own girls over thirty years ago. Your family will always hold special memories and blessings to us. Enjoy this new season of life and all that God has for you!

    1. Thank you so much for your kind comment, Robin! I am SO touched that you remember our family and that you’ve been following along with my blog. It’s so fun to follow your girls and their families through Facebook – they have always been so special. ❤

  4. Whitney, I’ve also never commented, but your writing and commitment to follow the Lord through the mountains and valleys have brought me so much encouragement. Your posts have always felt like a warm hug and cup of tea- an unhurried atmosphere so different from the frantic pace of this world. May the Lord bless you and your family!

    1. Thank you so much for your kind words! I’m really grateful for how God’s Word has sustained me through the ups and downs of life. Thank you for being an important part of this community! ❤

  5. Whitney, I will miss your blog! Thank you for introducing me to the Bible Recap. I am on my 3rd or 4th year and I have grown so much by learning to study God’s word. I will miss you!

  6. Whitney, oh how I’ll miss your blog! But I understand how it feels to just know when it’s time to move on from something and I totally respect your decision. My sister and I have been your “groupies” for several years now 😄 often checking in with each other, ”Hey, did you see Whitney’s post about ____ this week?” And my son made his own “Dollar Tree hauls” on his leap pad when he was just a little guy because of your YouTube channel! 🤩 Thank you for the time, thought, energy, and prayer you put into teaching and encouraging us with each post. If the Lord ever calls you to return to blogging or YouTubing one day, I’ll be your first subscriber. I’ve enjoyed becoming long distance friends with you!! 🥰 Blessings! 🙏🏻

    1. Alinda, I’m SO grateful that we connected through blogging. You have been a big blessing in my life. Thank you for your support (and your son’s support of my YT channel !) and for your encouragement over the years. Hugs! ❤

  7. Dearest Whitney, I am so thankful to you for sharing your life and so many helpful ways to make our homes a comforting refuge. I have been missing you the past few months, and I’m sad to see you retire from blogging. But I know you are sensitive to the Lord’s leading in your life, and I know He will continue to lead you as you trust in Him. I hope your mom continues to include you in her blog so we can still “stay in touch.” God bless you dear Whitney, and Paul as well. Love in Christ, Jenny C.

  8. Whitney, I have been following you since your early days, and I will miss reading new posts. That being said, I am wishing you the very best as you’re moving on from blogging. I’ve learned a lot from you. You introduced me to paper planning (I’m still using my HP faithfully), great recipes and routines, and most importantly, you inspired me to read the Bible in a year. Thank you for sharing and inspiring. Blessings to you and Paul!

  9. I’ve enjoyed and gotten so much out of your blog. Thank you for doing it all these years. I’ll miss checking in to see what God’s been showing you BUT know that you following God’s leading is what’s important. May God bless you and your husband in a special way!

  12. Whitney, I’ve been missing you and will certainly continue to do so. A few years ago I received a Christmas mug you were giving away. I use it each Christmas season and think of you. I feel like you are a friend I’ve never met. I wish you well. God bless you and thank you!

    1. Karen, that’s so sweet! I remember that giveaway and I’m so glad you’re enjoying the mug. I’m honored to be your friend and so grateful for the years you’ve been a part of this community. ❤

You’ve encouraged me with scripture in my personal walk with the Lord, to be more organized and to prioritize my home life. I still go to your blog for recipes and meal inspiration. I’ve loved reading about your life updates. Prayed for you and Paul during your adoption process. I loved watching your you tube videos as well. Happy early birthday!🎉 Thank you !❤️
