High Five For…2020!

Let’s be honest – you might be thinking you’d rather kick 2020 in the behind instead of giving it a high five! However, the past is not about us. The past is about God’s faithfulness.

This year hasn’t been the greatest. There have been so many moments of uncertainty, fear, frustration and disappointment. But there have also been lots of great moments – many good things that came from God’s hand as a result of His grace.

Here are my highlights from 2020!

It almost seems like a dream that we got to attend a Broadway show in 2020, but we did!

Not only did we update the front of our house, stain the deck and catch up on lots of little home projects, I completed the laundry room makeover!

We spent time with family over Memorial Day and then took a fun 24 hour trip to Hendersonville, North Carolina at the beginning of summer.

Paul turned 40 (and wore that coral shirt a lot, apparently)!

I made several trips to Tennessee to spend the day with my nephews. We had lots of fun playing together!

Our first beach vacation was a success and the perfect way to wrap up the summer.

During the weeks I worked from home back in the spring, I used my normal lunch hour to practice the piano. There’s something about that activity that is so soothing to me!

I started sharing some of my piano sessions on IGTV, like this one with the hymn “Does Jesus Care?” Getting back into the habit of playing the piano has definitely been a huge blessing from the year.

As I shared on Wednesday, I was so grateful that my family got to spend Christmas together!

In 2020 I grew more and more grateful for the absolute, unchanging truth of Scripture. I completed my goal of reading through the Bible (for the 3rd time!) and enjoyed Psalms, Isaiah and Hebrews the most.

My prayer for 2021 is that God’s Word would be my delight and my counselor, and that I would experience the peace that comes from loving his law. (Psalm 119: 24, 165)

I’m also really glad I chose to read New Morning Mercies each day. If there was ever a year I needed to be reminded that we’re in between the “already” of salvation and the “not yet” of heaven, it was 2020!

Here are the top five blog posts from 2020:

Thank you so much for being a part of this online community of friends! I am ever so grateful that you choose to spend time reading what I share. I would love for you to comment with a highlight from your year!

God’s faithfulness to His promises in 2020 gives me hope for 2021! Happy New Year!

  1. I love that line – the past is not about us, the past is about God’s faithfulness! A year in review pointing out His faithfulness in our lives is surely a way to end the year on a high. I’m so glad you and Paul were able to travel, make sweet memories, celebrate and enjoy the year together. It’s been fun to see you do new things – like DIYs around your house and always be a source of encouragement with the uncertainties that 2020 threw our way. Thank you for that!

    1. I love that quote, too. I heard it several years ago and it stuck with me! Anything good I’m able to do is only a result of God’s grace in my life and His word in my heart. I’m so thankful for that!
