October’s New Recipes

We’ve had a pretty crazy schedule this month, but somehow I managed to fit in FIVE new recipes during October! You could potentially serve all of these recipes in the same day – I have a breakfast entree, a lunch entree, a supper entree (well, a soup and a meat) and a dessert!

Breakfast: Bacon & Cheddar Grits Quiche: This is Southern breakfast in all it’s best, delicious flavors. I needed to take a meal to someone, and this was the perfect option! They could freeze it for later if they already had lots of food, and I made it in a disposable pie pan so they don’t have to worry about getting my dish back to me.

Lunch: Harvest Cobb Salad (pictured): I’ve had this one on my recipes to try list for a long time, and I finally got around to it! This salad is very filling with a delicious dressing that’s easy to whip up with things you probably have on hand.

Supper:

Chicken Orzo Soup: We’ve recently discovered our love of orzo! This soup is a nice change from noodle soup and is perfect for lunch or supper.

Crock Pot Maple Dijon Chicken Drumsticks: This recipe is so simple – it’s perfect for Sunday lunch. The end result is basically a honey mustard sauce that’s deliciously slow-cooked into the meat. I left mine in the slow cooker for 3 hours instead of 4 and was glad I didn’t leave them in for that last hour.

Dessert: Texas Sheet Cake: I made this to take to work for a party. It was a big hit! I thought this recipe was perfect for the occasion because you bake and ice it in a 9×13 pan, making it so easy to transport to another location. Everyone was very impressed that the icing was homemade. 🙂

I’m joining some of my favorite bloggers for our monthly roundup of favorite recipes! Be sure to visit their posts (linked below) for lots of new recipe ideas! We all have fairly different cooking styles & preferences, so I know there will be something for everyone. 1. Living in Nebraska, I’ve not familiar with Texas Sheet Cake….but I want to be! 🙂 Yum! Also need to try that Harvest Cobb Salad! I enjoy seeing your recipes, as there’s such variety. Growing up, I was used to meat and potatoes. It’s fun to branch out a little now!

  2. That salad looks amazing!! I’ll have to give it a try and my texas sheet cake recipe calls for an odd size pan. So I rarely make it and am going to have to give your recipe a try since I’ve got easy access to a 9×13 pan. I always think of Texas Sheet Cake as the perfect brownie/cake type treat. It’s my favorite and I’d often request it as my birthday cake. Now I’ve got cake on the brain 🙂

    1. So now I’m laughing at myself… I was surprised to see my own recipe pop up when I clicked the linkl it’s been so long since I made my own Texas sheet cake that I forgot I adapted the recipe a bit to work in a 9×13 pan. Clearly I need more sleep hahaha
