3 Things You Can Organize This Weekend

If you find yourself with a little extra time at home this weekend, why not use it to organize a few hot spots around your home? I promise you won’t regret it – at least I never do! I have a short list of three things you can organize this weekend, and we’ll start in the kitchen.

Your Freezer

This project doesn’t take very long – you have to hurry before the ice cream melts! πŸ™‚ Here’s what to do:

Take everything out and sort it by type. Wipe out the freezer and dry the inside. Corral small items in bins – I use ordinary plastic bins from Dollar Tree and a cabinet plate rack. Put everything back, rearranging with the goal of being able to see almost everything at once when you open the door.

If you have a large freezer or one stored in the garage/basement, I recommend an inventory list so that you always know exactly what you have.

Your Bathroom Cabinets

It’s amazing how quickly this area gets cluttered and messy! I have to maintain my makeup storage and bathroom sink cabinets regularly. Here’s how to do that:

Take a good look in all the drawers and containers, and make sure the things at your fingertips are the items you use every day (or frequently). Relocate medicine, makeup or the electric toothbrush you rarely use to a hall closet. Throw away empty or expired products. Wipe out the shelves, containers and cabinets and put things back in a way that makes it easy to find what you need in the morning!

Your Trunk

Organizing the trunk of your car isn’t any different than organizing something inside your home – everything needs a place! If you’re like me, there’s almost always a bag that needs to be returned to a store and a box that needs to be dropped off at the thrift store. Move those things into the main part of your car, if you can, so that they’re in sight, on your mind (that’s the opposite of out of sight, out of mind). πŸ™‚

Throw away trash and sort the remaining items into piles of similar things: reusable bags, emergency supplies, sports equipment, etc. Corral those items in bins or containers for easy access and to keep them from rolling around all the time.
