April started off in the BEST way – celebrating Easter Sunday in a packed church, hearing preaching from our new pastor (our church was without one for the past 2 years), and then coming home to enjoy all our favorite Easter foods!

It has been a gorgeous spring in South Carolina! We took a Sunday afternoon drive out to a nearby covered bridge and took it all in. Those 70 degree/low humidity days don’t last long but they are my favorite!

I got to meet up with my mom and sister for lunch and shopping one weekend! We haven’t done that in (well, you know since when) and it was so nice!

My tote is from Amazon – it’s currently on sale for $13 and comes in tons of colors!

I took advantage of the cooler weather this month and refreshed the mulch, sprayed three inches of pollen off the house and picked out a new boxwood to replace the one that died last year.
We also had new gutters put on the house – it’s amazing how something like that makes the whole house look better!

Paul wrapped up a very busy season of officiating college girls’ lacrosse – and we are so thankful that he had a full schedule! He had some games that were cancelled and a lot that were rescheduled, but overall his calendar was full.
He’s worked really hard to climb the ranks in this new-to-the-South sport over the last 7 years! He got to work a bunch of playoff games and the Conference Carolinas championship (yep, the refs get excited about that stuff!). I picked up some of his favorite bakery cookies to celebrate!

We spent last weekend in Tennessee with my family for an early celebration of my parent’s 40th anniversary! I’ll share more about that in June, closer to the actual day, but it was lots of fun to celebrate together! S/O to my dad for getting us all in the picture on the first take!

While there was lots to enjoy and appreciate this month, rest assured that it was not perfect. I dealt with some health issues (nothing super serious) that caused me to really internalize the truth I shared in this week’s blog post: Why Do Bad Things Happen To Good People?
I’m thankful for the truth in these words: I sought the Lord, and he answered me and rescued me from all my fears. Those who look to him are radiant with joy; their faces will never be ashamed. (Psalm 34:4-5)

I’m glad you got to see family, celebrate holidays and enjoy some lovely Spring weather. Gutters aren’t the most fun thing to buy, but they really do look nice. Congrats to Paul on those exciting officiating opportunities. I hope May brings good health and good times your way.

Ha, you’re right about the gutters! It feels like a true adult moment when you step outside and say “well don’t those gutters look nice!” 🙂

Happy 40th to your parents! So glad you got to celebrate and that cake looked amazing. When I was 17 my aunt who was 34 passed away from cancer. I remember checking out a book at the library titled Why Bad Things Happen to Good People and i really think it helped me so much more than I even realized at the time.
