5 Things On Friday {April’s Highlights}

What a month this has been! It’s been very busy, but it’s been full of blessings as well. As you’ll see, we did a good bit of travelling (which is unusual for me!). Let’s jump into the highlights!

1// Road Trip to Banner Elk, North Carolina – Paul refereed a lacrosse game at a college in Banner Elk early in April. I rode along with him and enjoyed the beautiful scenery, even though the trip was almost completely curvy, two-lane roads. It was FREEZING up there in the mountains that morning (elevation 3,701 feet) but once the sun came out it was nice. I love these little colleges that are nestled in such pretty locations.

I wanted to check out this little general store, and Paul decided he needed to pose with his Root Beer. LOL. After I showed him the picture, he said, “Please tell your blog readers that I’m not wearing capris.” I didn’t even notice, but the shadows do make it look like he’s wearing capris. Ha!

Just a few weeks after we were married, Paul refereed a basketball game at the college in Banner Elk. It was the first game I attended with him as his wife, in January 2011. Neither of us had been back since that day so we recreated our selfie to commemorate the occasion. I’d say we’ve changed a little in 6 years! 🙂

2// Easter – It ended up just being the two of us for Easter dinner, but that didn’t stop us from eating #allthecarbs.

3// Road Trip to Harrogate, Tennessee – We headed to the TN/KY line for another lacrosse game, this time in the most beautiful location on a perfectly gorgeous day. It was a long day with almost 8 hours of driving, but we had a great time together!

4// Visit With My Parents – My Mom and Dad were very sweet and started their vacation at our house! They came in last Saturday night and spent most of Sunday with us. We always enjoy sitting around the table, talking and laughing! My mom helped me did a fun project that I’ll be sharing next week. 🙂

5// The Spring Fling Photo Challenge – You all probably know by now that I love a good Instagram photo challenge. I’ve been participating in the Spring Fling Photo Challenge hosted by Beth and Stephanie – it’s been so much fun to look for the beauty in Spring every day this month! Here’s one of my favorite pictures from this collection. I picked up these little salt and pepper shakers when we were in Harrogate, Tennessee to remind me of the fun day we spent there this month!

  1. This was such a sweet post to read (or re-read)! I love your “cold face” – hehe! The recreation of that photo from such a memorable day was precious! Those salt and pepper shakers are beautiful! I also love when “souvenirs” are something beautiful and useful, and also remind you of a wonderful day! 🙂

  2. Nothing could ever stop me from eating all the carbs, lol. Well, except for lately. I have really been trying to do better but even with that I just feel like I have barely scaled back.

  3. What a fun month!! Love your Easter dress, your road trips looked like so much fun and I also really enjoy picking up something special on trips to remind me of the fun we had. Your S&P shakers are so cute and go perfectly with your decor. Hope May is just as much fun as April 🙂
