It’s time to wrap up the highlights from June! It was a hot one, but I survived. 🙂

#1 More Fun Date Nights & Disney Love

We kicked off the month with another trip to see Aladdin – it was just as great the second time around! I even found that vintage Aladdin tee at JCPenney and have stashed it away for our trip to Disney this fall. (You know me and shopping from the kids’ section…that top is cropped so it’s basically a petite!) 🙂

#2 Father’s Day

We spent the weekend with my family in Tennessee and had the best time hanging out! On Saturday night we enjoyed pizza on the deck at my sister’s house and had fun playing with my nephews in their backyard. It was great to hear my Dad preach on Sunday.

My Mom made a delicious Sunday roast dinner, served on a beautiful table as always. It was really nice to spend Father’s Day with my Dad! He is very loved by our family and we had fun celebrating him.

#3 Paul and I kicked off our 10th summer together! You can read more about that over here.

#4 Favorite Outfits: I guess I’m really into green right now!

Old Navy Flutter Sleeve Top (I have the “Oceanside”color)
Old Navy Swing Dress (I ordered a petite medium)

#5 Favorite Passage: I’m reading through the Bible by listening to it each morning from the New Living Translation. It has been so good. If you’ve never read through the Bible, I highly recommend that you start with the NLT. This month I’ve read through the stories in Kings and Chronicles (King Saul, King David and King Solomon).

I love this part because it’s really the height of Israel’s life in the promised land. Things are so good for them under King David and King Solomon. Ecclesiastes is always a favorite book of mine, and I loved reading it in correlation with the account of Solomon’s life surrounding when it was written. Here’s what the wisest and wealthiest man had to say:

“So I decided there is nothing better than to enjoy food and drink and to find satisfaction in work. Then I realized that these pleasures are from the hand of God. For who can eat or enjoy anything apart from Him?” (Ecclesiastes 2:24-25)

Everything I’ve enjoyed this month is from the hand of God. I can’t truly enjoy life apart from a relationship with Him! The same is true of months filled with hard things – those times are from His loving hand as well, and I can’t live those months apart from Him either.

  2. I still have not made it to see Aladdin yet and keep saying that I have to get there. It was one of my favorite Disney movies growing up.

  3. What a fun month! We’re hoping to see Aladdin or Toy Story 4 with the kids this month. I love that you find such great things in the girl’s section. So smart to buy ahead and save for your big trip. Your Father’s Day looked like so much fun. I bet your family really loved having you in town for all the festivities. Would you believe that it’s just now gotten hot in Indiana?? We weren’t really able to swim in June because it was so rainy/cool. Crazy! Looks like July will be a hot one. Stay cool, friend!
