Working five days a week doesn’t keep me from having a tidy home, but I do have to get creative with my time and energy. Here are three tips that make my life as a homemaker a lot easier – hopefully they’ll do the same for you!
#1 Trash Bag Time Saver
Pick up rolls of small trash bags at Dollar Tree and place a roll in the bottom of your bathroom trash can. When you need to empty the trash, pull out the full bag and replace it with one from the roll that’s right at your fingertips!
This seems like a small thing but it is such a time saver. You don’t have to remember to bring a new trash bag back to the bathroom – it’s already done!
#2 New Jobs for Old Towels
Store a few old hand towels in a bin, either in the laundry room or kitchen. I have an assortment of mismatched towels that are too worn to display in the bathroom but still have life left in them. These are great for two things:
- Quickly cleaning up big messes like spilled drinks – saving you a whole roll of paper towels
- Tossing (a clean towel) in the dryer when you only have a few items that need to be dried – cutting the drying time way down
#3 Rugs that Don’t Budge
I discovered Rug Gripper last year and my life has never been the same. π Itβs basically a heavy duty adhesive β just attach a strip of it to each corner before placing the rug on the floor, and it does not budge! If you have a rug thatβs always moving around on you, grab some of this!

I love the towel tip! I do the same thing… I have a cute decorative dresser in our foyer downstairs with my secret stash of towels! In fact, I just used one and threw it in the wash after discovering a leak under my kitchen sink! I love the trash bag idea… I might just head to dollar tree and get a few rolls! π Happy 4th!
