Last week one of my co-workers, as she often does, brought me a couple magazines that she had just finished reading. One of them was the Taste of Home August/September issue. I haven’t picked up a copy of Taste of Home in a very long time! I immediately found myself turning down page corners and marking recipes that looked both simple and delicious!
When I find a recipe in a magazine, I immediately look it up on that magazine’s website so that I can pin it to my Recipes To Try Pinterest board. I ended up with five supper recipes that I can’t wait to try! Want to see them?
Bacon-Chicken Club Pizza – This uses things I almost always have on hand: cooked chicken, pizza dough, cream cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomatoes and ranch dressing. YUM.
Swiss Chicken Sliders – This one looks like a fun twist on those poppyseed ham rolls you’ve probably made at least once. It only uses 6 ingredients!
Parmesan Pork Tenderloin – I’m going to try this with boneless pork chops. We love pork and mushrooms, so I think this will be a win!
They had a whole section of recipes that use frozen meatballs. I keep those on hand because Paul likes to heat them up for lunches, but they are also a great time-saving option! Here are the recipes that jumped out to me:
Meatball Flatbread – This one would be great for supper or a hot lunch! We like the meatball pizza from Papa Johns, and this recipe sounds like a great twist on homemade pizza night!
Tangy Sweet and Sour Meatballs – I bet this would work in the slow cooker, too! I shared my method for slow cooker meatball subs last week, and I imagine the sauce would thicken on its own when it simmers for a couple hours.
Even though it’s not a supper item, I can’t resist sneaking this recipe in here: Cinnamon Apple Cider Monkey Bread. I’m still a huge fan of all things pumpkin baked goods, but especially in the fall months apple cinnamon runs a close second. This would be a great recipe to make for a holiday breakfast…or anytime you want your people to feel loved!
I have a stack of magazines that I need to go through, so be sure and follow my Recipes to Try Pinterest Board so you can see all the good recipes I’m discovering!

These look so good, Whitney! I too am happy to see what’s new in Taste of Home, as I subscribed for years and then stopped a few years ago. I still have all of my issues, and seasonally I get them out to look through. I pretty much always find a new recipe I want to try.
The bacon chicken club pizza looks particularly amazing!

I love when people share magazines with me because I rarely buy them! I like the recipes the best. It’s always fun to see new seasonal recipe ideas in print. I’ve been wanting to make my own batch of meatballs to keep in the freezer. All those meatball recipes sound yummy!

I love Taste of Home recipes. Years ago I subscribed to the magazine and enjoyed reading them. In those days they didn’t have a lot of advertising so I liked them much better. Now I just go to their website to find what I need. Their recipes never fail me.

I agree – it’s a very different magazine from the one they had in the 90’s! I honestly didn’t even realize they were still around! 🙂
