Organize Your House: One Room At A Time {Bathroom Cabinet}

Happy Monday, lovely readers! We’ve lived in our house for almost a year, and I am so thankful for it! No house is perfect, and the master bathroom at my house is clearly not the product of a woman’s design. It’s teeny tiny, so a pedestal sink was installed when our house was remodeled a few years ago. It’s pretty to look at, but there’s no room for storage and no place to set my stuff when I’m getting ready! My curling iron even has a hard time balancing on the rim! I found a plastic box on the TJ Maxx clearance aisle, and balancing it on the rim of the sink is the only thing that has worked for me.

balancingboxI have always used a basket or some type of container for my makeup, but I love this box more than any of the others. It’s so easy to keep clean and fits well in my cabinet (detail on that in just a sec.).

My makeup kit is pretty minimal (at least I think it is). Here’s what I keep in my magical balancing makeup box: 🙂

  • Decorative cup:brushes & BB cream
  • Standing up: deodorant, face lotion, foundation and hair spray
  • Makeup bag #1: powder, blush, eyebrow pencil, mascara, eyeliner, tweezers
  • Makeup bag #2: eye shadow (I keep these separate in an attempt to keep that inevitable “shadow powder” from getting all over everything else)
  • Laying flat: combs and handheld mirror

Here’s the storage cabinet we installed over the toilet. There’s an open shelf over the cabinet that you can’t see in this picture. I keep a few bath and hand towels up there. For me, the key to keeping storage areas in order is having plenty of container options. Can you imagine what a horrible mess this would be if all my makeup, rollers and hair care products were loose inside the cabinet?

Here’s a frugal living tip: if you like to use different or higher end hair products, follow coupon bloggers that advertise free samples. I like to keep moisturizing conditioner samples in my cabinet for days when I need to give my hair a little extra moisture. Samples are also great for small storage areas!

If you made it this far, thanks for hanging with me today! Here’s to organized bathrooms , no matter how tiny!

  1. This looks like the same cabinet I have in our bathroom,but mine is not organized, thanks for motivating me to do just that.
